Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

Is India really a Secular country?

by Sankate Sharma

Indians are more scared than secular. Feeling of being secular is being forced on to us by government, textbooks, schools and our families.

Government wants to appease all the sects and keep oiling the squeaky wheel (minorities). Textbooks are approved by government so they have to be neutral and hide the truth about the basic facts like India was invaded by Mougals and Baber destroyed temples in India and had forced Indians to convert to Islam. Schools are either private (busy earning money from students of all religions) or government funded (can not go against govt.) or Convent schools (YES!!! These are the ones who don’t care about government and talk about religion) or Madrasas (same as above). Our Families / parents / elders have been so busy earning the livelihood that they have slowly forgotten that they are no more connected to their cultural roots and the kids have secular / “we don’t care” attitude towards their culture / religion.

When Government is not caring about the faith being practiced by most of Indians and neither school not parents are doing anything to make sure that the “TRUE”culture is preserved. At the same time thousands of people are daily being converted to Christianity and Muslims, some willingly and some forcibly. In this scenario we can clearly see a bias towards particular religions and hence we are not secular and India is on path of destroying its original Vedic values.

What can we do to be truly secular?

Simple!!! All we need to do is to spread awareness about our great Vedic culture and be proud of it. Well is it so simple? No, I don’t think so. Till we are twisting the facts in the textbooks, having reservations for minorities / SC / ST / OBC’s / upper caste (refer to "Stop Reservation in Temples") and fighting among over selves, we will never be able to feel proud in saying that we are Indians and we love our culture. Invaders ruled us for about 800 yrs and we had preserved our culture but now we are loosing it, thanks to a simple word “SECULAR”.

We have to teach the kids about our great culture, ancient sciences, ayurveda along with the modern Engineering and medical sciences. Baba Ramdev is spreading knowledge Yoga to the masses, we would need many Ramdev’s to speak up and restore the dying culture. Many people say that the culture is not dying and its just transforming and taking a new shape. To answer that I will say that this new shape that our culture is taking is architected by Invaders who ruled us for 800 yrs and they want us to become just like them as this is what their religion preaches. Hindus can be safe in secular India and still preserve their culture only if they come out of the hideous system of caste. Caste system has been around and even Vedas mention it, but there is no mention of caste being propagated on basis of birth, it’s the Karma that decides what you will be and what you are. A Brahmin by birth serving in Indian Air Force is a “Kshatriya”. Unfortunately we Indians are not able to get over the cast system. I hope if every one is taught Geeta at school then they might be able to get over this plague of Indian society.

What next?
When all countries have a alignment to a particular religion and they still allow multiple religions to be practiced in their countries, WHY CAN'T INDIA BE A HINDU NATION??
Jai Hind!!
