Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

Rajnath wants Centre to take up Tibet with China

Statesman News Service

NEW DELHI, March 15: The BJP president Mr Rajnath Singh today demanded the UPA government convey to China through diplomatic channels India’s objection to the use of force by Chinese authorities on the peaceful demonstration by Buddhist monks in Lhasa, Tibet.

The BJP president said at a farmers’ rally held to mark the 65th birth anniversary of the BJP leader Sahib Singh Verma, who died in a road accident last year, that efforts should have been made to find an amicable solution to the Tibetans’ problems. He demanded an immediate halt to the use of force by the Chinese authorities.

Accusing the Centre of being indifferent to the reported action against the agitators in Lhasa, Mr Singh said those holding a peaceful demonstration in Delhi expressing solidarity with their counterparts in Tibet also had to face action. It was an indicator of the present government’s inability to put forth India’s position on Tibet in an effective manner, he added.

The senior BJP leader blamed the Congress for the marginalisation of farmers in the country. He said the BJP was committed to keep its word and would not like to make false promises to the common people. On the loan waiver scheme to farmers he said his party would do everything possible to help reach the benefit of the scheme to needy farmers but only if the government was serious about its intentions.
