Communist party seeks more Hajj quota
Srinagar: The CPI (M) State Secretary, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, has appealed the Central Haj Committee to make efforts for enhancing the Haj quota for J&K State, so that all the left out intending pilgrims are accommodated. In a statement issued today, Tarigami said that as a Muslim majority state, J&K deserves additional Haj quota as the present allocation is not in proportion to the population.
Tarigami suggested the State Hajj Committee to take up the case before Central Hajj Committee, Union government and the Saudi authorities, so that maximum number of pilgrims is selected from J&K State. He also suggested that there should be 10% increase in the annual Haj quota for the state.
