Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

15 buses damaged as a backdrop of attack on RSS leader

Dindigul, Tamil Nadu Dec 22 (UNI) Some miscreants today damaged at least 15 government buses in Tamil Nadu in the wake of attack on RSS leader yesterday, police said.

They said nine buses were damaged in the stone-pelting incidents in Dindigul and six buses damaged in Palani, till this evening.

Workers of RSS and BJP staged a demonstration here and later resort to 'road roko' agitation, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, who had attacked RSS District Convener S Bhaskaran near the party office.

The agitation led to tension. Most of the shops around the bus stand area were closed for several hours. Police, who rushed to the spot, pacified the agitators.

Meanwhile, Bhaskaran was shifted to a multi-speciality hospital at Coimbatore for further treatment amid tight security.

Bhaskaran lost his left leg and a finger in his left hand in the attack.

His condition is said to be stable.

Police are investigating the motive behind the attack and no one is arrested so far in this connection.

It may be recalled that Bhaskaran was attacked by a four-member unidentified gang with sickles while he was standing near the party office at Masilamanipuram.
