Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

Modi: What was Congress doing during the Indo-China war, Pakistan occupied Kashmir, 90,000 Pakistani soldiers captured in Bangladesh & Mumbai attack?

Balasinor (Gujarat): A day after prime minister Manmohan Singh unleashed his sharpest attack against LK Advani, BJP leader Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit back, accusing him of "kneeling down" and the Congress of displaying "helplessness" on security issues whenever in power.

"What was Congress doing during the Indo-China war of 1962. I want to ask the prime minister who is saying that Advani was wringing his hands, what was the Congress doing with their hands then. Today also thousands of thousands of acres of Indian land is with China," Modi said addressing a public rally in Balasinor town of Kheada district here.

"Even today half of Kashmir is occupied by Pakistan, what kind of strength does it show. I want to ask if the prime minister is kneeling down due to helplessness of Congress or is it part of your habit?" Modi asked.

The prime minister had on Monday attacked Advani for his "melting" before terrorists during the Kandahar hijack episode, of "wringing his hands" during the 2002 Gujarat riots and "weeping in a corner" when the Babri Mosque was demolished.

Modi also raised the issues of Charar-e-Sharif seige, the Rubaiyat kidnapping episode and the 26/11 attacks.

"Instead of attacking Pakistan what they did was made a CD of TV footage of Mumbai attack, made a file of newspaper cutting, put them in a box and the home minister took it to the US. There they cried that our neighbour has beaten us please help us," Modi said, adding, "this is perfect example of helplessness of the government."

Modi thanked Singh for starting the debate on 'majboor and majboot' (helpless and strong) prime minister and wished to take it forward.

"Advaniji may not reply on these issues, but I, though am a small man, only a chief minister of a state, I am giving the reply," Modi said.

"When Indian soldiers captured over 90,000 Pakistani soldiers in Bangladesh why were they allowed to go free", Modi asked about the 1975 Indo-Pak war.

"If we (BJP) would have been in power at that time we would have taken half of the Kashmir in exchange of those 90,000 soldiers" Modi said.

"I want to ask the prime minister why Congress had returned villages won by our soldiers during the war with Pakistan on the negotiating table," Modi said.

Modi added, "I today allege that under the Narasimha Rao government, when Manmohan Singh was finance minister, the Congress had given safe passage to five terrorists in Charar-e-Sharif of Kashmir after providing them a feast of 'chiken biryani' for seven days".

The situation was that the army had surrounded the terrorists from all the sides and had ordered to capture them alive or dead. But the terrorists threatened that they would blow off the shrine if the army tried to capture them, he claimed.

"Manmohan Singh who was then the finance minister, took out the money from the government treasury. Narasimha Rao government sent that money to Kashmir, where it was used to feed the terrorists with Chiken biryani," he alleged.

Modi said that Congress had played a vital role in making Mufti Mohammad Saeed the chief minister of Kashmir a few years aback.

"His (Saeed's) daughter, who is also a daughter of Congress 'gharana' was kidnapped by terrorists and they had released eight terrorists including Makbul Bhatt and given them safe passage to Pakistan," he alleged.

He raised questions on the actions taken by the UPA government after the Mumbai attacks in November last year.

"What did the UPA government do. I had then said that there were local people involved in the attack. Even the Mumbai police commissioner, who is a Muslim, said that 15 local people were involved in the attack," Modi said.

"After the commissioner made the statement, your government scolded him for that and as a result he had to change his statement within hours," Modi added.

"If you are strong why are you sitting on the 15 names who were involved in the 26/11 attacks. Why don't you search for them and catch them?" he asked.

Modi said that if the UPA government had gone to Pakistan instead of US, there could have arrived at some solution on the issue of terrorism.

He again raked up the issue of Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin while referring to her comment that India is facing more threat from insiders than outsiders.

"The UPA government has recently said that 30 Taliban terrorists have infiltrated into India. So now I would like to ask Soniaji-- Are these insiders or outsiders?", Modi said.

"Soniaji's mother-in-law late Indira Gandhi always used to say that there was a foreign hand whenever something happened in India. She does not belong to this land. After eating salt of India for the last 30 years, she should have respected the country," Modi said.

"Soniaji should take a hint from Indiraji. At least she should believe in her own mother-in-law," he said.

Modi also raised the issue of Congress-led UPA for giving reservation to minorities especially Muslims.

"As per our constitution, 50 per cent reservation has been sealed. Now, when the Congress wants to give reservations to Muslims, they will have to take some per cent from SC quota, some from ST and some of OBC's," he added.

"They (Congress) will take away from backward castes what was given to them by Babasaheb Ambedkar," Modi claimed.
