Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

ATS theory on saffron terror contradictory: BJP

New Delhi, Nov 21 : Pooh-poohing the theory propounded by the Maharashtra ATS that people from saffron group, arrested in connection with the Malegaon blasts, were targeting two senior RSS personalities, the BJP today said the whole attempt appeared to be one more effort by the UPA to mislead the voters in the ensuing Assembly elections.

The BJP today said this was another attempt by the UPA to mislead people in Assembly elections like they had done it in the case of Godhra train burning during last Bihar Assembly elections.

BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the information that should have been submitted to the trial courts, was appearing as leaks all over the media and the motive appeared to be obvious -- gain electoral advantage in the ongoing polls in five states.

''They had done it in Bihar making Justice U C Banerjee committee report on Godhra train burning incident but without success,'' he said.

''Now with the elections lined up in five states, the UPA was using the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad planting stories in the media. With the cases filed under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), the administration had no responsibility to prove anything for the next six months and the attempt to derive maxmimum political mileage was done,'' he added.

The BJP spokesman siad the claim of newspaper report quoting Maharashtra ATS that the saffron team was planning to eliminate two top RSS functionaries was 'illogical and contradictory'.

''The Congress was accusing BJP of spreading saffron terror and now they say the saffron group was trying to eliminate their own leaders,'' he stated.

Asked if he was accusing the ATS of spreading lies, he said he was not saying so. The ATS if they have evidence, proceed in a fair and just manner and produce the evidences in courts and not indulge in selective leaks. '' In the Godhra case they made it appear as if the karsevaks returning from Ayodhya had set on fire the bogey in which they were travelling from inside, almost suggesting that it was a suicide attempt,'' he maintained.
