Hindu leaders arrested after attack by 6,000 strong Muslim mob in West Bengal

The Friends of Hindu Samhati, USA unequivocally condemns today's gruesome attack on the Hindu Samhati training camp at Ganga Sagar (West Bengal) by a murderous mob of local Muslims, at least 6000-7000 strong, starting Thursday (June 12, 2008).

Ganga Sagar is a very reknowned Hindu Tirtha Kshetra (Place of Pilgrimage) where the sacred Ganga River has a confluence with the Bay of Bengal. Ganga Sagar is located on the western edge of the Sunderban Delta on Sagar Island. At the edge of Sagar town - adjacent to the beach - is the ancient temple dedicated to Kapil Muni, the sage responsible for initiating the chain of events that ultimately resulted in Mother Ganga descending to the earth from heaven and giving mankind an opportunity to wash away its sins in her pure water. The earliest mention of this sacred place is found in the Mahabharata where a learned sage explains to Bhishma the significance of taking a dip at the confluence of Ganga Sagar. Millions of Hindu pilgrims visit this holy place all year round to take a dip in the ho,y Ganges, particularly during the Kumbha Mela and Makara Sankranti festivities.

Since this morning (Thursday, 12 June, 2008), Hindu Samhati had started conducting a training camp and workshop on the current socio-political scenario to 180 men, women and children in the peaceful and serene surroundings of Ganga Sagar.

Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh, the National Convenor of Hindu Samhati is conducting the main sessions of this camp. Other eminent people and local notables are also present. Everything went on smoothly until this evening, when suddenly the camp building was surrounded by a murderous mob of about 6000-7000 local Muslims bent on mayhem. The Muslim attackers were well-prepared and have been throwing gas cylinders and petrol bombs (molotov cocktails) and kept on attacking incessantly for a few hours, to incinerate the whole camp. The entire camp building has been reduced to ashes. All 180 of our camp attendees (a large number of them women and children) and 15 policemen are trapped inside this burning camp along with our dear leader Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh.

Already 14-15 attendees of the camp have been injured in the carnage, and at least 7 of them are in very critical condition and are not expected to survive. The names of the critically wounded include: Subodh Kundu, Bivas Mondal, Gopinath Biswas, Prasenjit Sardar and Gautam Halder, apart from 2 others that could not be identified because of serious facial burn injuries.

Nine camp attendees are still missing and may have been kidnapped by the Muslim mob. Their names are: Gautam Mondal, Kartick Biswas, Ram Shil, Palash Roy, Gopal Dolui, Piyush Senapati, Ashok Das, Shankar Nandi and Subhash Roy. We are very apprehensive about their well being.

The local police-station (Thana) has unfortunately sent in a small posse of 15 policemen who are totally inadequate for resisting such a huge Jehadi mob armed to the teeth. The police could not control the mob of Muslims even after firing several rounds.

As of Friday morning (June 13, 2008), as per the recent information received by us, the assault by the Muslim mob at Hindu Samhati campsite in Gangasagar is still on, although the intensity has abated a little bit. Some more police force has reached the trouble spot, though the large force required to subdue a mob of this size and temperament is nowhere in sight. A recent update by phone from the camp is that along with the 14-15 attendees who were injured, 2 policemen have also been seriously injured due to the assault by the Muslim mob. Scores of other attendees to the camp has sustained minor injuries in this most cowardly assault including the National Convener of Hindu Samhati, Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh. Thankfully his injuries are not serious.

Apart from throwing petrol bombs to incinerate the camp building, the Muslim mob also tried to breach the wall by exploding cooking gas cylinders against it. Failing to break into the camp, the rampaging Muslim mob has attacked and seriously damaged some nearby houses of the local Hindus. They have also seriously damaged and set fire to an adjoining Kali temple and a 'Yatri Nivas' (Travellers' Lodge) run by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The fireball attacks have slightly abated but the vicious threats and stone pelting continues – all attuned to the collective chants of both 'naara-e-takbir, allahu akbar' (allah is the Greatest) and 'inquilab zindabad' (Long Live the Revolution).

Sagar island at the Ganga Sagar – the confluence of the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal – is one of the holiest pilgrimages of India, where millions of Hindus from all over India and the world gather during the 'Makar Sankranti' (Winter Solstice) for the 'Punya Snan' (Holy Bath) every year. If a peaceful Hindu gathering can be assaulted with such viciousness and impunity in one of the most sacred Hindu sites of pilgrimage, one shudders to think what lies in store for the Hindus of West Bengal a few years hence.

In a travesty of justice, instead of arresting the attackers, the Police in West Bengal have slapped a non-bailable arrest warrant against Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh and 15 Hindu Samhati activists. The concocted charges against them are listed as being: "Incitement and Instigation for Rioting" and "Disruption of Communal Harmony".

As per the latest news received from the ground, Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh and 15 Hindu Samhati activists have been framed and arrested for inciting communal disharmony by Kakdwip Thana (Police Station) in West Bengal.

1) The Friends of Hindu Samhati, USA strongly protests this outrageous attack on a peaceful, indoor religious function that was held behind closed doors. There was no provocation for this vicious assault nor was any outdoor procession held at the location. It is pitiable that the police could not provide security to its peace loving citizens and is instead insisting on closing the camp down.

2) We strongly urge the police and the local administration to arrest all the perpetrators of this heinous crime immediately and provide security to continue the camp at a nearby, alternate location.

3) We deeply deplore the travesty of justice in West Bengal and appeal to the police and the local administration to remove the framed charges and release Sri Tapan Kumar Ghosh and 15 Hindu Samhati activists immediately.

4) We request all friends and readers in India and abroad to call up the Indian administration to inquire about this incident. At least, they will know that people still care about justice and peace in India. The Numbers to Call are:

Islamic Radicalisation of Maldives

Tourist brochure describes Maldives as a paradise. Perhaps due to the natural beauty, this country of 1192 small coral islands in Indian Ocean was known as Maldveep (Garland of island) in ancient Sanskrit literature. With 100 % Sunni Muslim population of over three lakhs, area of 800 square kilo metres distributed across atolls and islands, having more sea than land in its occupation and historical roots in South Indian, Sri Lankan Sinhalese and Arab communities, it remained isolated from the influence of modern world for centuries. Situated at a distance of about 450 miles southwest of Sri Lanka and nearly 300 miles away from the southern coastline of India, both the countries are its nearest marine neighbours. Because of its Location on the major marine routes in Indian Ocean, its geo-strategic importance can be understood.

Before the advent of Islam in the island its natives were practising Buddhism. Islam was initially introduced largely in its southern area in 1127 AD but the then tolerant Buddhist ruler did not give any patronage to conversion. However, in 1153 the Buddhist king Dhobenei Kalaminj Siri Bavanaadheettha got converted to this faith and imposed it on his subjects. Although, with the introduction of new religion Maldives also faced the challenge of Arabisation, the influence of pre-Islamic past remained the bedrock of its socio-political philosophy till it came in contact with the wider part of modern world.

Maldives has all along been an independent State except for a brief period of about 15 years under Portuguese occupation in 16th century and under British protectorate from 1887 till 26th July 1965, when it got independence. It reverted from Sultanate to a republic on 11th November 1968.

After reversion of Maldives from Sultanate to a republic, its first president Ibrahim Nasir opened up the country for tourists and foreign investments. The growth of tourist industry in this Muslim country was somehow not palatable for the Islamist establishments from all over the world. However, when Abdul Gayoom, who is educated in Islamic jurisprudence from Al Azhar University in Cairo became president in 1978, he changed the role of religion significantly and irreversibly transformed the traditionally tolerant society into an increasingly radicalized Islamic society. Since the tourist industry was the backbone of national economy, it was not possible for him to close it but due to his Islamic educational background, religion occupied a front seat in his politics. He sent a significant number of youths to Islamic institutions in countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and India for Islamic studies.

With huge funding from Saudi Arabia for Wahhabisation of Maldives Islamist zealots on their return from Islamic institutions became loyal collaborators of the regime and began an intense indoctrination for Arbisation of the island in the 1980s. Describing the indigenous cultural symbols like native names, language, greetings and attire as ‘Jahiliya’ (Age of darkness) they “began insisting that it was sinful to call God anything other than Allah” (maldivesroyalfamily.com). This made the Maldivians culturally restless as Arbisation of language was an assault on their vocal chord that was accustomed to pronounce ‘Maaiyraskalaange” for the term God. Although, they tried to ignore the dictates of Mullahs, they succumbed to the threat of Islamist preachers who said that non-pronouncement of Allah by Muslims would send them to hell. Gradually, this cultural conquest forced the traditional Maldivian culture disappear from the island. Traditionally, some parents used to send their children for Islamic education in countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia solely for their solid moral foundation but after Gayoom came to power promotion of anti-Semitic and hate-Israel teachings in Madrasas increased religious sentiments. “Now we are in evil times and teachers train children in fanaticism and bigotry in Islamic schools” (Ibid.).

Since its independence, Maldives adopted a policy not to allow military base of any world power although the Wartime British air base on its Gan Island in Addu Atoll continued till it was unilaterally given up in 1976. It had even rejected the proposal of Soviet Union for access to its military base in the island following the withdrawal of the British. India too never felt the need to actively harness the Maldives’ strategic potential in Indian Nation. However, when Gayoom became the president, he adopted the policy of multilateral and bilateral approach, which was quite visible during the coup against him in November 1988 which he could overcome with help from India. He sent an international appeal for political and moral support but sought military appeal only from India, as he wanted to keep the island away base from extra regional powers.

It is said that President Gayoom used Islam as a tool to marginalise his political opponents. In his presidential address to the nation on the occasion of country’s national day, he often blamed opposition for their alleged motive to bring other religions to the country. The 1997 Maldives constitution designated Islam as the official religion and law prohibits the Maldivian citizens to practise any religion other than Islam.

In 2003, posters praising Osama bin Laden appeared on the walls of a school in the Edyafushi island. A shop displaying photo of Sant Claus was attacked in 2005.

Gayoom often projected himself as supreme propagator of Islam which progressed at a remarkable state under his last thirty years continuous rule. He had repeatedly stated that “Maldivians are born Muslims”. During his tour to India in 2005 while addressing the Maldivian students he asked them not to deviate from the strict Islamic policies set by his government and advised them to “strive hard to avoid the influence of new ideas including liberalism, tolerance and outspokenness” (Minivian News). Speaking in Male on April 10, 2005, he said “Islam and freedom of this country are interconnected” (Ibid.).

“Among the roughly 180 countries of the world, Maldives is placed in the sixth position, concerning intolerance and harassment against minorities” (Ibid. dated June 12, 2005). Government of Maldives stresses that “belonging to anything else but the Muslim ideology would be against Maldivian tradition” (Ibid.).

The first Islamist terror strike was in Sultan Park of Male, the capital of Maldives on September 29, 2007 targeting the foreign tourists in which about a dozen of them were injured. Maldives police believed that the blast was a plot of Islamic militants against the tourist industry of the country. Even President Gayoom admitted that Islamist terrorism has begun to affect the peaceful image of the island. He ordered a ban on entry of Mullhas and Islamic clerics from outside Maldives without any invitation from the authorities. His government also cracked down on religious dissent banning foreign preachers and unlicensed prayer groups (AtollTime.com).

Although, a Safari clad clean shaven Gayoom has been trying to prove his moderate image, he cannot escape the responsibility of the growth of Wahhabism in Maldives which is the root of terrorism. His commitment to the promotion of hard-line Islam, constitutional ban on the practice of any other religion except Islam, the growing popularity of beards and veils, and dictates of Mullahs to shun music, to stop listening to music and watching T.V. are indications that Maldives is creeping towards its Talibanisation. Reports about growing number of youths from Maldives supporting the militant philosophy of Jihad also suggest the rise of militant Islam in this country. Sultan Park incident has not only confirmed it but has also sent a signal that Islamist terrorism which starts from Pakistan has discovered a new route of terrorism via Maldives to support the Islamist groups in southern Indian states, where a number of terror attacks took place last year. In the absence of adequate security forces and advanced arms and equipments Maldives may not be capable to destroy the sleeping cells of terrorists.

India occupies the core position among South Asian countries and therefore, its natural concern is to protect its national interest from the inevitable consequence of the changing geo-strategic influence in the region. It is already facing the challenge of Mullah-Military alliance in Pakistan, Bangladesh and from the growth of Islamic radicalism in Sri Lanka. But Maldives, an integral part of South Asia and a member of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) has failed to construct a secular structure during last thirty years rule of President Gayoom, which allowed the extreme Islamist groups of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and India to transform the Islamic society of his country to a more conservative nation and active form.

India is thus facing the unabated challenge of Islamist terrorism that get embedded in neighbouring countries. This should be cause for concern.

NGOs, subversive activists and foreign funds

I am quite amused though not surprised by the recent statement of Fr Jegath Gasper Raj, a Catholic priest who had recently collaborated with Kanimozhi, daughter of Chief Minister Karunanidhi in organizing the recently concluded Chennai Sangamam in collaboration with Tamil Maiyam - ostensibly a cultural festival�which was held in Chennai city. He has said that some jealous and vested interests are responsible for the recent allegations that he is closely associated with the LTTE. To quote his own words, 'if there is a strategy aimed at weakening the LTTE hoping to gain advantage at negotiating with the Tamils that would end in a disaster. The Tigers will never negotiate from a position of weakness. And the Tamils world over hold the view that the LTTE is their last Defence. I also hold that view. Definitely the LTTE has a streak of totalitarianism but I do not subscribe to the view that it is fatalistic. It has certainly shown intolerance to different ways of thinking. But whatever you may say, they are still the Tamils' last defence there. Unfortunately in Tamilnadu when someone talks about Sri Lankan Tamil issue rather passionately, he is immediately branded terrorist and there is no middle way to academically look at the issue.'

Fr Jegath Gasper Raj has also dismissed as baseless the charge that he has been closely associated with the US based Tamil Socrates Nachimuthu who has been arrested by the FBI in USA for alleged attempt to bribe a State Official to lift the ban on the LTTE. Fr Jegath Gasper Raj has also said that he had never been directly involved with the LTTE and his only claim to closeness to the Tamil Diaspora has been his long and committed work in the areas of human rights and also helping the Lankan Tamil refugees. He has also attempted to clarify that Socrates Nachimuthu was not in any way directly involved with the LTTE and that he had only been active in the FEDERATION OF ASSOCIATION OF TAMIL SANGAMS IN NORTH AMERICA (FeTNA).What has been clearly noted by the main stream English media in India is that Tamil Socrates Nachimuthu, a nuclear scientist, was sharing the same dais with Fr Jegath Gasper Raj at the recently concluded and much touted Chennai Sangamam plus Chennai Maiyam cultural event.

No one disputes the fact that Fr Jagath Gasper Raj, a Catholic priest was the driving force behind the just concluded so-called cultural event Chennai Sangamam. A very intriguing and rather disturbing fact which has emerged is that one K Pandiaraj who is the moving spirit behind Tamil Maiyam also happens to be an important member of the 'Think-Tank' of the BJP Party. Fr Jegath Gasper Raj is also another vital element in Pandiaraj's Tamil Maiyam. Many sharp political analysts have not failed to take note of the essentially subversive, mysterious and hidden Sangamams within the wrapper of open SANGAMAMS.

I do not know whether Fr Jegath Gasper Raj has anything to do with LTTE. The great American philosopher Thoreau (1817-1862) said it for all time when he declared: 'it takes two to speak the truth; one to speak and another to hear'. However I would like to confront him with the stern, grim and scorching truth about some of the issues he has raised.

Any enlightened citizen committed to the cause of national unity, national security and territorial integrity of India has to only carefully go through an explosive book titled 'NGOs, ACTIVISTS AND FOREIGN FUNDS, ANTI-NATION INDUSTRY' edited by Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak, two bold and fearless journalists. The first edition of this book was published in 2006. I had reviewed this book in seven parts in the columns of News Today. The second edition of this book has just come out within six months of the release of the first edition in September 2006. In this second edition, there is a brilliant and scorching article by Arvind Kumar under the title THE OXYMORON CALLED AID in which he has thoroughly exposed the anti-national activities of several Indian organisations (NGOs) functioning in the United States. They all have their overt or covert political agenda despite their calling themselves as 'Charity Groups'. Amongst these groups the biggest, the richest, the most widespread and the most dangerous organisation is the one that calls itself Association for India's Development (AID). This anti-national group has spread its tentacles far and wide and has directly entangled itself with many anti-Indian forces, some of which are connected to Pakistan and also to terrorist groups like the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

AID began its work in 1991 and spread like AIDS among the younger generation in some of the campuses of American Universities. It started recruiting its members from the recurring crop of new students from India landing in USA every year. What was concealed mischievously from the Indian students was the fact that AID was involved in many subterranean, subversive political activities in India with close links to or connections with violent Communist and nefarious groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization that has been linked to the Jihadi outfit Hezbollah.

To quote the brilliant words of Arvind Kumar: 'Apart from CAIR, a few of the groups that AID associates itself with are ASHA for Education (ASHA), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), (The Youth Wing of the Communist Party of India�Marxist), and Friends of South Asia (FOSA). Each of these organisations has dubious credentials. And many of the volunteers of organisations like ASHA and FOSA are also volunteers for AID. In many cases, the same group of people is behind multiple organisations with pompous-sounding names and uses them as money-generating schemes. Thus it comes as no surprise to know that Anu Mandavilli, a spokesperson for FOSA, is also an editor AID's monthly newsletter.'

Arvind Kumar rightly describes AID as Allah for India's Destruction. Having stated that there is a strong umbilical chord between AID and FOSA, Arvind Kumar goes on to say that FOSA was started by a fanatic Muslim Pakistani named Ali Hasan Cemendtaur. The website of this organisation is still owned and controlled by this champion of compassionate Islam. In May 2005, FOSA organized a so called 'Peace March' in San Francisco. It was attended by the same handful of volunteers who work for many of the shady anti-India and anti-Hindu organisations already referred to above and one of the banners at the event read: 'ALLAH WILL DESTROY THE TERRORIST STATE OF INDIA.' It is very clear that FOSA fits in with the classic mould of the organisations created by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). AID has maintained close links with Islamic fundamentalists in USA. It has jointly sponsored events with CAIR.

It is reliably understood that FOSA had recently roped in a group called the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) to plan, organize, launch and act against Indians in the California Textbook Controversy. I remember reading in the Times of India in 2003 that the FeTNA was a Front Organisation for the LTTE. In August 2006, Nachimuthu Socrates, a former director of FeTNA was arrested by the American authorities for supporting LTTE. The CNN reported as follows on this episode: 'Eight men have been charged with plotting to buy surface-to-air missiles for Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger Rebels, US federal prosecutors have announced. The men also are accused of plotting to bribe US State Department Officials into removing the Tamil Tiger Group from a list of terrorist organisations and of trying to obtain classified information.' This very FeTNA, aligning itself with Chennai Maiyam, played a pivotal role in the recent Chennai Sangamam cultural event!

Arvind Kumar has graphically brought out how ill-gotten money is being used by AID and its allies for acts of national subversion and sabotage. To quote his precise words in this context: 'A careful look at the money trail of AID illustrates the functioning of the organisation, and throws light on other organisations that are used to funnel money collected by AID. These organisations co-ordinate their fund-raising activities and shadow their proceeds by passing through multiple accounts all controlled by like minded groups. One such organisation that has been funded by AID is called Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF). TNSF works actively with DYFI. TNSF listed Balaji Sampath, who is also a founder of AID. Thus while Balaji Sampath's AID collects money in America, BALAJI SAMPATH (in his Indian incarnation!) receives money in India, ostensibly on behalf of TNSF.'

I understand that TNSF 'as a policy' would always impose a pre-condition on the libraries in Tamilnadu which they were financially supporting to the effect that the concerned libraries would only support DYFI and no other student body before receiving any funds. AID is a secretive organisation which enjoys the full political support of the UPA Government in New Delhi. It was AID which extended generous financial support to Sandeep Pandey, founder of ASHA and a known Naxalite sympathizer, to undertake a political trip to Pakistan some years ago.

Those who work with AID and its allies also seem to be experts in organizing international prizes and awards to themselves as part of a civil and cultural conspiracy. One Sanjit 'Bunker' Roy was given a prize by the Aga Khan foundation for having developed rainwater harvesting structures. Later investigations by The Week clearly revealed that he had hired a professional architect called Neehar Raina to get the job done. Upon this exposure, Aga Khan Foundation changed its citation to fit in with the known facts! A secularly shameless non-communal Roy, ended up by returning his prize. Bunker Roy's wife Aruna Roy, is a Maoist and has worked closely with AID. Like many who have worked closely with AID in its undeclared mission of national subversion, she too has been awarded a prize by the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation.

I can only conclude that NGO's like AID, ASHA, CAIR, FeTNA are all committed to their supreme objective of De-Hinduising the Indian State which means rendering the Hindu identity to any aspect of our national life illegitimate and irrelevant in public life and public discourse.

An explosively revolutionary book entitled 'NGOs, ACTIVISTS AND FOREIGN FUNDS: Anti-Nation Industry' jointly edited by two fearless journalists and writers Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak and published by Vigil Public Opinion Forum (VPOF), Chennai was released by Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, in New Delhi in September 2006. Within a short period of six months this first edition has been sold out thanks to overwhelming public response. The second edition has recently been published with some additional material of great national significance.

When the first edition of this book came out in 2006, I had reviewed it in these columns. In the introduction to my detailed review, I had observed as follows: 'In an era of 'Publishing abundance' unfortunately ushered in by our perverted democracy and technological explosion, looking for needles in hay stacks has become the full-time occupation of a conservative reader who still clings to the old-fashioned belief that quality is all, I don't feel ashamed to confess that I am a conservative in regard to my reading habits and I am immensely happy now that I have found 'a needle'.' My initial immediate impressions expressed in these words have been solidly confirmed and vindicated by the upgraded quality and content of the second edition of this avant-garde book.

This book exposes the evil anti-national designs of many NGOs and activists operating in India with great enthusiasm and gusto with the full patronage and strong political support of the anti-Hindu UPA Government in New Delhi. All these NGOs are fully committed to their supreme objective of De-Hinduising the Indian State. This in effect means rendering the Hindu identity to any aspect of our national life illegitimate and irrelevant in public life and public discourse, with the subterranean objective of eroding the 'Hindu Consciousness' in the Hindus and finally wiping out the Hindu FACE of the nation. Against this dangerous background, Radha Rajan superbly summarises the consequential position: 'Thus arises the demand for a ban on cow slaughter, the demand of Hindu bakthas that government withdraw from temple administration and stop usurping temple money and temple revenue, the demand for the right to administer their temples and utilise temple money in the interest of Hindu Dharma, the demand that governments take cognizance of growing religious demographic imbalance, the demand that governments acknowledge the consequences of foreign, State-powered and funded religious conversions, demands for an accurate and honest writing of Indian History and the stubborn 'secularist' refusal to admit that all terrorism leading to secession is either Christian or Islamic terrorism, only attests to Hindu powerlessness in the face of political conduct which derives from a twisted definition of secularism.'

Nehruvian secularism is committed to the cause of de-nationalising and de-Hinduising Indian polity. De-nationalising involves the processes of devaluing both nation and nationality. De-nationalising the Indian State, Radha Rajan asserts, has resulted in deadening our consciousness to the ignominy of the rise of a foreigner in Indian polity who aspires to become our Prime Minister. What emerges from this book can be summarised in the following equation: Mohammedanism + Missionaryism + Marxism + Macaulayism + Nehruvian Secularism + UPA Soniaian Pseudo-Secularism = Promotion of Terrorism in India.

All the anti-national NGOs considered in this book have been operating in India under the self-chosen umbrella of this overriding, indeed axiomatic pseudo-secular equation. Against this known and dark background, several NGOs and their activities have been analysed with facts and figures which is a wake up call to all the nationalist Hindus of India. This book is indeed a veritable mine of information on many anti-national and anti-Hindu NGOs and certain high-profile individuals who are brazenly parading themselves in the forefront of anti-India and anti-Hindu propaganda on various public, social and political issues. Based on a careful analysis of the activities of many NGOs, this landmark book establishes a tangible relationship between the anti-India and the anti-Hindu dimensions of these sinister organisations and their leaders with questionable character and antecedents. In the view of Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak, there can never be any Indian nationalism that is contrary to or separate from Hindu nationalism. It is a natural corollary that the continuing attempts to de-Hinduise our polity by these NGOs and their activists have dangerous implications for the national security and the relationship of so-called religious minorities in India with Hindus and the Indian State.

The focus of this book is on the following issues:

a) How these NGOs are de-nationalising the Hindu consciousness in a cold and calculated manner with the covert and overt help from the government of India?

b) A scrutiny of the loose coalition of opportunistic (only in respect of India) anti-Hindu Christians, Muslims, Communists and Nehruvian secularists who are indeed guilty of an ardent advocacy of secular sedition when they dismiss age-old Indian nationalism rooted in age-old Hindu culture and Sanathana Dharma with contempt, often mixed with a hateful denial of the concept of Hindu India's territorial integrity.

c) Politically and socially criminal attempts to use history and social science to indoctrinate the young and impressionable minds with the agenda to de-root the Hindu community from its cultural enclave of geographical nationalism and all that goes with it.

Islam-embracing, Christianity-coveting, and Hindu-baiting UPA government has carefully planted many activists belonging to the anti-Hindu category as Members in the Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE) and National Integration Council (NIC). This also includes the Archbishop of Delhi! It is indeed regrettable that many of the activists under the scanner in this book under review find a pride of place in both CABE and NIC. This fact is by no means incidental but by all means planned and fundamental. The most comic aspect in this context is that there is not a single member in CABE or NIC to represent the interests of more than 800 millions of Hindus in India even while Muslims, Christians, Marxists and Nehruvian Secularists and page boys of Sonia Gandhi have been nominated exclusively to represent the so-called minority interests in general and the overriding sovereign anti-Hindu secular interests in particular.

These anti-nation, anti-Hindu 'peace' and 'human rights' activists have the same contempt for all Hindu organic and traditional social structures and group identities as they have for the nation and national borders; so much so that they denounce family, varna, jathi and kula, religion and nation as 'upper caste' and 'patriarchal' constructs. The ultimate intent of their activism is to damage the Hindu social fibre and weaken social cohesion by De-Hinduising large segments of Hindu society.

Releasing the first edition of NGO'S, ACTIVISTS AND FOREIGN FUNDS, ANTI NATION INDUSTRY in 2006 Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat declared: 'The topics discussed in this book are relevant in the present times not only to India, but even to 'developed' countries, where the whole business of NGOs started. Sometimes I call these 'Noble' people five-star activists. If you study them closely, you will experience what I am saying. In America they are called Limousine Liberals! In Europe, there is a new word for them .Just as there are entrepreneurs in various sectors of business, the social service sector is called the NGO industry'. Why should we not make accountable all the NGOs that in the name of social service are increasingly developing and spreading as thriving businesses? To win public confidence, any big company entering the capital share market has to announce the tie-ups it has with specific banks, with specific financial institutions. Is it not then necessary that these NGOs, some of them in existence and operation only on their letter pads, should declare their financial resources? Today, we do not have any idea about the financial resources of NGOs - Funds are obtained from abroad; an NGO is set up; a PR firm is recruited and slowly, with the help of the media, an image is created. And then awards are procured from foreign countries to enhance this image. Such a vicious cycle, a network of 'finance- activity- award' is set up and once, they have secured an award, no one in Hindustan dares raise a finger, no matter how many may be the failings of the Awardee. How much of the money meant for the service sector, for the poor, is spent by these NGOs on their own establishment? You will see senior bureaucrats traveling economy class, but not NGO activists?'

These fundamental and vital issues raised by Narendra Modi have been studied and analysed with great objectivity by all the writers focusing on the different aspects of the uncontrolled, uncontrollable and non-accountable NGOs operating in India today in a treasonable and traitorous manner with the full knowledge and cooperation of all the functionally cosmetic and politically servile enforcement agencies of the Government of India like IB, CBI, RAW, Union Home Ministry etc. Each learned article in this book is marked by a patient pursuit of facts, and a cautious combination and comparison of them in a scientific manner. Each writer makes us aware that the main part of public education is not just the sterile acquisition of inert facts but learning how to make those facts live in the larger public interest of greater and greater public awareness of dangers and threats to our nation's identity and survival. All these great writers offer us the most direct representations of the possibilities of civil existence in India and the impending disaster of its dissolution in the absence of continuous public vigilance. Reading and discussing the seminal articles in this book, I have begun the wholesome act of repossession. I can declare from the house top that these writings not only scrape but drive away the haze of irresponsible and anti-national second handedness of the pseudo-secular mafia of mass media in India today.

NGOs, Subversive Activists and Foreign Funds- Anti-Nation Industry, edited by Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak, is a provocative book which exposes the political and anti-nation agenda of some very well-known NGOs and activists, and clearly reveals their foreign sponsorships, donors and funds, both hidden and open. It demonstrates and proves their double standards and their total absence of public accountability, and emphasises the imperative public need for the Government of India to ensure that a vigorous mechanism is created in the larger public interest to effectively counter this Anti-Nation Industry of NGOs.

The last article in this book is by George Thundiparambil under the caption 'Closing Word: Who is afraid of the Hindu Nation?' In this article he refers to some of the well known NGOs like FOIL, ASHA, AID, ADP, ASATA, FOSA, CSE, SACA and PBN etc whose anti-national activities have been documented in this book as Instruments of Hate and Fratricide. To quote the incisive words of George Thundiparambil: 'For Indians who are aware of the Anti-Hindu agenda of Christian, Islamic and Communist organisations in India and abroad, it is neither shocking nor surprising that numerous NGOs have sprung up through out the country, who act as sole agents for these alien and hostile organisations. As we come to know from the few, but meticulously written articles of this book, most of these agents are mercenaries of alien masters, and that they are best described as Nehruvian Secularists. The Macaulayan pat on the shoulder for submissive behaviour has been loyally sustained and well-absorbed by Nehruvian Stalinism, which epithet describes the Nehruvian-Stalinist policy of sharing the loot among acolytes and relatives.'

Nehru was very ashamed of calling himself a Hindu. But he was very proud of declaring himself to John Galbraith, the US Ambassador in the early 1960's, as the last Englishman to rule over India! It was Nehru who laid the foundations of pernicious pseudo- secularism in India after Independence. He became the commercial and marketing manager for selling what he considered to be the two most secular products, Islam and Christianity in India. This anti-Hindu policy encouraged many Nehruvian pseudo- secularists and Hindu-bashers to overtly work for alien imperialist agencies that were flourishing in India even after our so called independence in 1947. In any other country such anti-national individuals would have been charged with the offence of treason punishable by or under law. But under the Governments of Nehru, Indra Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao and Dr.Manmohan Singh such traitorous behaviour has been decorated/ rewarded with Government patronage, privilege and high positions in society. We see numerous, unscrupulous Indians like Harsh Mandar or Sandeep Panday or Aruna Roy or Nirmala Deshpande or Arundhathi Roy and many other captains in the Anti-Nation NGO Industry still prospering on dishonour. There are thousands of such characters out there with a different upbringing and educational background, but all have one thing in common� they are all Nehruvian secularists and Marxists working against Hindu India and the native traditions that brought them into being. George Thundiparambil asked the right question in this context: 'Is it only greed or an evil mindset cast by India's enemies?'

Thanks to the minority appeasement policy of the Government of India, under the supreme hegemony of the anti-Hindu Congress Party for 50 years after our independence, the imperialist powers of Christianity, Islam and Marxism, have succeeded in continuously expanding the domain of their power and influence in India. These foreign powers often get their illicit designs in India translated into action with consummate skill by buying an NGO or a willing- to- be- bought activist, with the full support of the Government of India. Such imperialist anti-Hindu forces and organizations have never experienced any shortage of custom-made anti-national co-operators like Harsh Manders or Sandeep Pandes. George Thundiparambil cites the example of one Cedric Prakash, on assignment for the Vatican, but masquerading as a social worker in Gujarat, bending over backwards cheering and advocating for India's enemies, especially Pakistan, when he is not busy painting the Hindu civilization black and fully backed up by the Congress Party and the mafia of mass media. Let us hear the clinching words of George Thundipurambil in this context: 'Here, greed is the perk, where Christian and Islamic organizations combined with their Marxist cronies lead the traitors by their noses'.

To understand this situation better, let us go by their own allegories, which have significant indications. Let me summarise the conceptual frame work presented by George Thundiparambil with biting sarcasm. In the Christian tradition, the believing Christian is depicted or described as the sheep and the Muslim is the tiger. In Christianity the metaphor of sheep is developed further to make the clergy the shepherd dog or the hound of God juxtaposed against the lay sheep who include the already converted. The Christian metaphor includes within its fold those pagans and infidels who are potential converts�these are looked upon as the 'missing' and the 'black sheep' who could be converted into obedient, sacrificial sheep in future. George Thundiparambil says that in reality though, the hound of God is the wolf that infiltrates the herd of the sheep, and after taking control of it, finishes them off one at a time. Meanwhile, the tiger manages to remain unseen, but is always there hiding behind the bushes, always preying on the isolated sheep. George Thundiparambil sums it up all in these words: 'In the second indication the allegory of tiger is extended to their own ranks of victims. By systematic training and solid investment from abroad, the Christian sheep and the Islamic tigers are fed and fattened in such unnatural and aberrant circumstances, more or less like broiler chicken. So much so that satiating the desire for wealth becomes secondary to the reserved seat in a nowhere land, also known as Paradise or Houristan'.

Modern day CPI(M)and CPI Indian Marxist are viewed as the unscrupulous and vulgar hyenas chained to long transnational leashes, smacking their lips and waiting in the sidelines, while the more fierce carnivores (Christian wolves and Islamic tigers suffused with compassion) devour with delight the natural religionists. These carnivores do not mind the despicable hyenas. They might even make a few adjustments here and there, throwing scraps at them, as a potential ally /agent against the HINDU 'black sheep' becoming more and more resilient and even assertive.

A very typical aspect of Abrahamic religionist behaviour (which Stalin imbibed from Lenin and Nehru copied from Stalin) is that awards and funding go only to the Hindu- bashers. The 'rewarding' serves as a finger print of the 'almighty God' of Christians and Muslims and wily anti-Hindu Marxists like Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechuri, A B Bharathan, Raju and the like follow them from scripture to fanatic fervour. Now the question can be asked: 'What do Christians and Muslims from abroad achieve by proxy Hindu bashing?' George Thundiparambil gives a fitting answer to this question in a manner which ought to put all these known and sworn enemies of Hinduism and Hindus on the run. Here are his flashing words: 'Why are the Abrahamic religionists, Marxists and Nehruvian secularists collectively frightened of Hindu Nationalism? Why is political power for the Hindus a dreaded nightmare for Imperialist religionists and ideologies across the world? The answer is: A successful and powerful Hindu nation poses a religious, psychological and cultural challenge to the very existence of these ideologies and cultures, because the very rise of Hindus is a success of all things natural that these enemies have been striving to exterminate. As if these enemies are afraid of the success of NATURE itself.'

In short, the rise of Hindu Nationalism and Hindu economic and political power will only signal the failure of the monotheistic systems of Christianity and Islam that have been and still are striving to put down the Hindu and what the Hindu signifies. These wickedly monotheistic ideologies militate against the grain of human nature and reality itself. These brutal and violent ideologies arrogate to themselves the role of a plenipotentiary Government when they brazenly issue fatwas and pastoral letters from time to time in our own country in an authoritarian manner to gullible people. They are meant to override or subvert the rule of law of a nation. These ideologies/ religions of Christianity and Islam often throw out signals to the effect that they don't respect the concepts of a nation and democracy. We have an Islam-embracing, Christianity-coveting and Hindu-hating CPI(M) led coalition Government in Kerala. I understand that with the willing co-operation of this anti - Hindu, if not barbarous Government, many Christian churches have not paid the State Government levies due on the immense plantations run by them on vast encroached lands belonging to the Government. The Christian and Islamic clergy are members of exclusive religious, non-Governmental and non-Democratic organisations. They are all functioning as paid agent of transnational institutions which have known anti-national, anti-democratic and fascist agendas.

For more than thousand years, Indian paganism has been at the receiving end of preying monotheisms. What have they taught us pagans excepting their gigantic fraud, deception and villainy? And, after independence, even with us pagans all in numerical majority, Nehruvian secularism has twisted and continues to twist us under minorityism. Our degraded pseudo- secular democracy is being used to appease these monotheisms, with the numerical pagan majority being held hostage to a numerical minority.

For all the pseudo-secular NGOs operating in India with the help of unaudited foreign funds, Hindu national and cultural identities are neither relevant nor important. They recognise and respect only those regional identities which have been corrupted � or cleansed for ever according to the evangelists� by the process of induced and fraudulent religious conversion. Any Christian or Islamic NGO is essentially a hate propagandist. No amount of window dressing with affectionate words like 'love', 'brotherhood' and 'peace' can ever remove the inherent systemic flaws of hate and internecine warfare that stain their theological cassocks. All the efforts and activities of proselytisation by many of the religious organisations who work round-the-clock in India emanate from the venom of hate and fratricide embedded in their scriptures. All the shady and nefarious activities of the anti-social and anti-national NGOs described in the book NGOs, Activists and Foreign Funds, Anti-Nation Industry edited by Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak also stem from the same evil ideological domain.

When our NGOs use the term 'secularism', which ought to denote the 'exclusion of religious considerations', It means only 'the appeasement of minority religions' in India. In the hands of Christian fundamentalists, words like 'liberty' and 'democracy' take on a different meaning. For them 'liberty' means the 'freedom to convert pagan people' and 'democracy' means the 'rule of the elite minority'.

Krishan Kak, one of the editors of this book relating to the misdeeds and criminal activities of NGOs operating in India with nefarious foreign funds, had completely exposed the anti-national activities of a former IAS officer called Harsh Mander. He wanted to deceive the nation through the mafia of mass media that he had made the supreme sacrifice of resigning from the IAS on account of the inner spiritual anguish following the so called genocide in Gujarat. In the first edition of this book, Krishen Kak had given the facts and figures which can stand any judicial scrutiny to show that this officer was a layer upon layer of orchestrated fraud. Krishen Kak proved that Harsh Mander had cleverly lied to the nation with the full knowledge and consent of the main stream TV and Print Mass Media.

Long before the publication of the first edition of the book under review, Krishen Kak had sent an open letter to Harsh Mander on 25 July 2003 in which he stated: 'your national and international credibility as a champion of Indian secularism and as a fighter against social injustice is derived from your oft- repeated and much- publicised claim of 'resignation' from the IAS on moral grounds after the Gujarat communal violence. This act of yours had you hailed in the mainstream English-language 'secular' media as 'a man with a conscience'. Subsequently, this writer discovered and revealed that you had, in fact, not resigned at all from the IAS and that you were, and you are, aware that this is not a mere technical or semantic quibble.... That once this fact was made public you yourself ceased making the 'resignation' claim confirms your own consciousness of your duplicity'. To make this complete, I would like to add dignity after Duplicity (!)if he had any at all!!

When the first edition of this book was released by Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 9 September, 2006, the Mafia of Pseudo-Secular mass media came out with half- truths, latent lies, patent lies, flowered and flowing falsehoods, tinged with malice, prejudice and hatred the very next day. The Indian Express came out with a factually false statement in its issue dated 10 September, 2006 to the effect that the book release function was held 'at the BJP headquarters'. To say the least it was preposterously abominable. The function was in fact held in an open ground on Ashoka Road, New Delhi and not in the BJP headquarters. Further neither Radha Rajan nor Krishen Kak has ever tried to conceal the fact that they are the fearless champions of Hinduism, Hindutva and Sanathana Dharma.

The Deccan Chronicle quoted Sandeep Pandey (one of the shady characters brought under scanner by Radha Rajan and Krishen Kak in this book under review) as saying 'as a principle we do not accept foreign funds.' The irony of the sordid story is that there is a whole chapter in this book dealing with the facts and figures of foreign funding obtained by ASHA and totally controlled by Sandeep Pandey. And yet The Deccan Chronicle chose to ignore it, if not to bury these facts and truths under the artificially created mound of debris of calculated Pseudo-Secular frauds and anti- Hindu falsehoods which is the normal vocation of the main line English Print Media in India, enjoying the unbroken patronage and benediction of the UPA Government in New Delhi.

On 11 September, 2006 ( 2 days after the release of the first edition of the book), Krishan Kak sent an open letter to Harsh Mander in which he wrote as follows (published as part of Appendix 12 of the Vigil Book)

Dear Mr Mander,

You are in the forefront of the Right to Information campaign and are on record as required 'public accountability' from 'funded NGOs' ('NGOs, Activists and Foreign Funds: Anti-Nation Industry', Chennai: Vigil Public Opinion Forum, 2006:143). You also continue to be in the forefront of the 'secular' campaign for Muslims rights in Gujarat. The Deccan Chronicle today published an emotive response to the book, of which I am co-editor, and in the context of that book, the chronicle article, and your own stated position regarding transparency and accountability, I invite you set the public record straight in regard to your public persona, especially-....etc etc'

Likewise, on 20 November 20 2003, Krishen Kak sent an open letter to Karan Thapar as well who had referred to the 'Harsh Treatment' meted out to Harsh Mander in an article in the Hindustan Times Sunday Magazine.

On 18 December 2006, I sent a letter to Krishen Kak to ascertain as to whether he had received any reply at all either from Harsh Mander or Karan Thapar to the letters I have referred to above. Yesterday Krishan Kak has sent me a reply as follows:

Dear Shri Sundaram,

Thank you for your enquiry about whether I received any reply to my open letters to Mr Harsh Mander and Mr Karan Thapar.

As open letters, these were sent not just to Mr Mander / Mr Thapar and the addressees you see in the letters reproduced in the book, but copies were also distributed widely over the internet (including to Action Aid e-addresses all over the world). To date, there has been no response from Mr Mander or Mr Thapar.

After the release of the book under review on September 9 2006, there was also a report in The Deccan Chronicle on 10 September 2006 which contained many mis-statements. Radha Rajan sent a letter to The Deccan Chronicle (published as a part of Appendix 12 of the Vigil Book) questioning the preposterous claim of Sandeep Pandey. The report in Deccan Chronicle had quoted Sandeep Pandey as saying: 'First I am glad to be clubbed in the August company of Aruna Roy, Nirmala Deshpandey and Harsh Mander.... The accounts of ASHA are open for scrutiny and our website has details about the funds we spend and get. As a principle we do not accept foreign funds and even institutional funds from India. So the criticism that we are being used by foreigners who fund us is baseless'

Radha Rajan challenged the response of Sandeep Pandey. To my query regarding the response of Sandeep Pandey, Radha Rajan has replied to me as follows yesterday:

Dear Shri Sundaram,

Vigil Public Opinion Forum was compelled to write the rejoinder to The Deccan Chronicle to nail Sandeep Pandey's lie that ASHA for education did not receive foreign funds.

As pointed out in the rejoinder, Chapter 8 of the first edition of the book titled 'ASHA projects: Where does all the money go' is only about foreign funds as attested to by ASHA's own website. And the clever device always used by these activists to deceive and fool is to pack a falsehood inside a truth so that the falsehood escapes notice of readers. Take Sandeep Pandey's reaction as a typical example of this ruse - 'So the criticism that we are being used by foreigners who fund us is baseless'.

Nowhere in the book have we alleged that Sandeep Pandey was being used by 'foreigners'. What we have alleged is that Sandeep Pandey's ASHA raises money abroad, in the US and in Europe ostensibly for 'charity' but that their website does not provide details about where and how the money was going. The book also alleged that Sandeep Pandey's charity work, like that of many other similar activists featured in the book, was cover for his political intentions.

Sandeep Pandey and his friends in the book, predictably have not responded to these specific allegations nor have they been able to issue any credible or effective rebuttal to our allegations. The fact that these NGOs and activists have maintained stony silence even after being so completely exposed validates Vigil's expose of this huge money-spinning anti-nation industry.'

These foreign - funded NGOs and 'Peace' and 'Human Rights' activists like Harsh Mander, Sandeep Pandey, Aruna Roy, Nirmala Deshpandey, Admiral Ramdas, Arundati Roy and several other artificially sponsored, supported and sustained stuffed men and women, backed by the European Parliament and the US State Department, continuously raise a raucous cacophony about communal harmony, secularism, pluralism and even democracy being in danger in India because of the sudden rise of 'Hindutva- Fascism'. With the tacit consent of Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh they are all in the endless queue for the award of Bharath Ratna!!

South India covered by Islamic terror blanket

The Chennai edition of The New Indian Express dated 17th February 2007 reported as follows:

The 'Q' branch of the state police is now concerned about the formation of a new Islamic outfit, "Popular Front of India" (PFI), a coordinated effort between three organizations – Karnataka For Dignity (KFD), Karnataka, Manitha Neethi Pasarai (MNP), Tamil Nadu, and National Development Front (NDF), Kerala. The new organization was launched on Friday (16th February) in Bangalore, 'to coordinate & strengthen grass root level developmental activities through out the country' followed by an 'Empower India' conference in the garden city. Though the organization's agenda has been well spelt out – democracy & social justice, the state police fear that the organization had been set up to propagate hardliner ideology. A 'Q' branch official had said, "What is worrying us is the fact that a majority of the leaders of this new front belonged to the now banned SIMI". The decision to launch Popular Front of India (PFI) has been taken at a conference of KFD, MNP & NDF held on 22nd November 2006 at Calicut. The leaders of PFI include, K.M.Shareef, President of KFD, Gulam Muhammed, leader of MNP and Abdur Rahman Baqari of NDF and they have decided to confine their activities to South India.

This shocking report, deserved to be a 'Top Story', was published only in New Indian Express, that too only on the third page.

It is an open secret that the NDF has been unleashing terror in Kerala right from day one. This organization is alleged to have been involved in the murdering of many cadres belonging to RSS, BJP & other Hindu Organisations, with the support of CPM goondas and their student wings DYFI & SFI. Both the then Congress government & the present Communist government have miserably failed to check the violence & terror unleashed by NDF. This organization is alleged to receive huge funds from Gulf countries to conduct its operations. It is reported in Kerala media that, Pan Indian & South Asian terror groups are operating across the state. It is believed that, after the banning of SIMI & ISS (Islamic Seva Sangh), the terrorists belonging to those outfits changed their name & operate as National Developmen Front.

Similarly, the Manitha Neethi Pasarai (MNP) has been very active in Coimbatore & Theni districts of Tamil Nadu. Some six months back, a few MNP activists were arrested in Coimbatore for plotting to murder a Hindu activist and to plant bombs in crowded areas. MNP involves in conversion and is conducting classes in the name of 'Arivagam' in Theni, to brain wash new converts, train them and recruit them in to Jihad squads, as reported by Ms. Jaya Menon in the 'Indian Express' dated 26th July 2006. The disturbing factor is that both Theni & Coimbatore are close to Kerala borders and hence MNP can easily coordinate with NDF. When SIMI was banned, its TN Unit changed its name as Tamilaga Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) and when Jayalalitha government banned 'Al Umma' after the Coimbatore serial blasts, the outfit is alleged to have changed its name as Manitha Neethi Pasarai (MNP) and continued its shady activities. Very recently the Jihadis belonging to these groups have murdered Kumar Pandian, Hindu Munnani activist in Thenkasi. A few days back, these militants also attacked Pandian's brother and he sustained grievous injuries. Even now, MNP's wall writings & messages can be found in the streets of Muslim dominated Triplicane, under the nose of Chennai police.

Likewise, the KFD (Karnataka for Dignity) has also spread its tentacles through out Karnataka as evidenced by the violence unleashed in Bangalore recently in the name of protests against Saddam's hanging. It is reported that this organization is aiding & abetting the terrorists from organizations like LeT in executing their missions like the attack on the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. These militants are also responsible for the recent murder of Sukhanand Shetty , BJP Taluk President in Mangalore. The vehicle used by these militants in that operation was bearing a TN registration number, which points to the fact that KFD is connected with MNP. Also, the entire coastal belt from Calicut in Kerala to Karwar in Karnataka seems to be under the control of Islamic militants, which points to the coordination between KFD & NDF.

With regards to Andhra Pradesh, the strength of the Muslim organizations is an open secret and the twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad have born the brunt of terror & violence many times. The Pakistani ISI has made inroads deep inside Andhra Pradesh and developed close contacts with the naxalite outfits and has formed many 'sleeper cells', as per media reports.

Apart from targeting innocent Hindus, Hindu organizations and their leaders, these terror outfits have also threatened to attack Vidan Sabhas, IT Majors, MNCs and even Nuclear installations.

In this kind of a terror struck scenario, the concerned state governments are supposed to be on alert and are expected to deal with the situations with hands of iron & nerves of steel. Are they doing so? Unfortunately not. Immediately after coming back to power both the Communist government of Kerala and the DMK government of Tamil Nadu have come together in attempting to obtain the release of the inhuman & dreaded terrorist Abdul Nazar Madhani on the so-called humanitarian grounds, and having failed in their attempt, the TN government has changed the prison cell of Madhani in to an Ayurvedic center, where he can enjoy a cushy life. The DMK government also issued a GO for the release of some nine Al Umma activists from the Palayamkottai prison, Thirunelveli. Despite catching some cadres of MNP in Coimbatore on the charges of plotting to kill Hindu leaders and conspiring to plant bombs, the TN police has said that it would simply monitor the activities of MNP, due to the influence of TMMK leadership with the state government. Just before the elections, the Kerala assembly, which is flooded with pseudo secularists, unanimously passed a resolution for the release of Madhani from Coimbatore prisons, which is an unprecedented action in the history of India. The NDF is striking at will, as & when it wishes, in Kerala and the Communist government seems to turn a blind eye towards it. In Karnataka, while the BJP as an ally is putting a lot of pressure on Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to take action on Islamic militants, the Chief Minister may act like Mayawathi after his turn of Chief Ministership is over, forcing the state for yet another election. Even otherwise, the steps & measures taken by him to curtail Islamic militancy are not convincing, as his party is also known for its pseudo-secularist credentials. With regards to Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Samuel Reddy is a known Muslim appeaser and he always follows the footsteps of his Italian Boss in dividing the Muslims & Hindus, so that, his Christian objectives can be achieved silently & easily.

There seems to be coordination between Naxalites – Maoists of AP & Islamic militants through ISI in the formation of sleeper modules. There seems to be a connection between LTTE & the AP naxalites as evidenced by the huge cache of 'rockets' in Chennai & Andhra. There seems to be an alarming increase in the LTTE activities in Tamil Nadu, as proved by the recent captures of LTTE cadres along with boats full of arms, ammunition & explosives including suicide jackets. Now, the three individual organizations KFD, MNP & NDF have formed a combined outfit PFI with an aim of focusing only on South India. A clear network & coordination of all these anti-national organizations in future cannot be ruled out. It is sad & unfortunate that we have governments in the center as well as the southern states formed by Minority appeasing pseudo secularists, who do not seem to have realized the gravity of the situation. The following statement of the 'Q' branch official to the New Indian Express marks this callous attitude: "It is unfortunate that the Hindutva hardliners have been working as a catalyst and in turn forcing the religious minorities to think on hard lines". This statement of travesty is a real tragedy.

Infertility can be cured, but not impotency. Our central and southern state governments are impotent when it comes to security.

Non-Muslims are systematically persecuted in Muslim countries

Dear Editor,

I kept Sultan Khan's letter, "Christendom is an obsolete notion, which is anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim" (July 03, 2007) and carefully studied it. I agree with Khan's analysis regarding the concept of "Christendom." However, this is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. I wish to address the plight of Hindus and other non-Muslims in Muslim countries.

In all Islamic countries that had large Hindu populations prior to these countries becoming Islamic states, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, the Hindu population has rapidly declined due to widespread atrocities incited by a radical exposition of Islamic theology that declares non-Muslims as kafirs. In addition, these states themselves sponsor discrimination against Hindus and non-Muslim minorities. For example, in 1965, "The Enemy Property Act" was passed in Pakistan that openly incited and legitimized the confiscation of Hindu-owned lands and buildings. During 1970-71, massacres were perpetrated by the Pakistani army against Hindus. Human rights groups estimated that approximately three million Hindus were killed. Millions of Hindu women were raped and kidnapped in this period. In 1977, the military dictator, General Zia ul-Haq introduced Islamic sharia that further marginalized Hindus. Between 1989 and1992 approximately 300 Hindu temples were destroyed in Pakistan alone.

In Bangladesh, Hindus are officially and legally identified as enemies of the state. The "Enemy Property Act" of Bangladesh was put in place to confiscate lands and other properties from Hindus. This anti-Hindu law is still in place as we speak.

In all of these countries Hindu temples are still being systematically destroyed, and Hindus are denied basic human dignity. There was international outrage from non-Muslims over the demolition of several Hindu temples in Malaysia between April and May 2006, many of them more that a hundred years old. On April 21, 2006, the 107-year-old Malaimel Sri Selva Kaliamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur was reduced to rubble after the city hall sent in bulldozers. These state atrocities are committed against the most underprivileged and powerless sector, the Hindu society in Malaysia. The video of this particular temple destruction, as well as other Hindu temple demolitions in other Muslim countries are available for all to see on the internet.

Only recently, a Hindu family living in Saudi Arabia was deported for performing pooja in their home. The Saudi religious police, on a tip by Muslims, destroyed the pooja room of the devoted Hindu family and later deported them.

Despite the fate of Hindus in Islamic countries, and places where large Muslim populations exist, in Hindu India the Muslim population has been steadily rising. In India, there are several ordinances in place, and politicians are busy making more of these ordinances, to make this Hindu country a better place for Muslims. When will Muslim countries offer non-Muslims similar kind gestures? When will the Hindu population and other non-Muslim populations be allowed to grow in Muslim countries, as the Muslims have been allowed to flourish in Hindu India?

The brutality against Hindus by Islamic forces, in history, and even today, knows no parallel in human history. The Chicago Tribune (July 13, 2007) carried a news article which highlighted some of these atrocities against Hindus by Muslims in Muslim countries. These include kidnap, rape, and forcible conversion of Hindu girls.

While Muslims demand equal rights in non-Muslim countries, and they should have equal rights, non-Muslims are systematically persecuted, terrorized and ethnically cleansed from Muslim countries and many places where Muslims are a majority. Europe (non-Muslim countries) has been very kind to Muslims in comparison to the treatment of non-Muslims in Muslim countries.

Why a President with criminal antecedents?

V SUNDARAM

Election of Rashtrapati of India that is Bharath is a solemn, sacred process. For Sonia Gandhi and her coalition partners, it is a 'disposable political procedure'. Known Sonia Gandhi with known Cambridge University qualifications (with known mafia connections in Italy, Germany and Russia for at least two generations, according to Dr Subramanian Swamy) has chosen the practically unknown Prathiba Patil as the contesting candidate for the highest office of the President of India.

It is now clear even through (!) the organised pseudo- secular mafia of mass media in India that she comes from a family with known and murky antecedents (not very different from that of Sonia Gandhi) with her own brother reported to be involved in a murder case which is the subject matter of a CBI enquiry.

No one in India or abroad can dispute the fact that Dr Abdul Kalam has been truly a PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT and is loved by all the people of India, irrespective of their caste or colour or creed or religion or faith or age. After Independence in August 1947, we have never had a People's President of the stature of Dr Kalam. If a direct election modelled on the American pattern were to be held today, without the political manoeuveres and machinations of petty and vicious anti-national politicians like Sonia Gandhi, Karunanidhi, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Communist politicians of all shades and hues, Dr Kalam would be re-elected as President with overwhelming majority.

In any direct election by the people, Prathiba Patil would be shown her true and fitting place in condemnable Indian politics and condemned India's public life.

The common millions of India (Whether Sonia Gandhi, her servile partymen and her even more slavish coalition members like it or not) today are of the view that Kalam eminently qualifies for national public declaration in perpetuity as a 'gentleman' according to the famous definition of Cardinal Newman (1801-1890) in his book 'The Idea of a University', a series of lectures given in Ireland in 1852:

'Hence it is that it is almost a definition of a gentleman to say that he is one who never inflicts pain. This description is both refined and, as far as it goes, accurate. He is mainly occupied in merely removing the obstacles which hinder the free and unembarrassed action of those about him; and he concurs with their movements rather than takes the initiative himself. His benefits may be considered as parallel to what are called comforts or conveniences in arrangements of a personal nature; like an easy chair or a good fire, which do their part in dispelling cold and fatigue, though nature provides both means of rest and animal heat without them. The true gentleman in like manner carefully avoids whatever may cause a jar or a jolt in the minds of those with whom he is cast � all clashing of opinion, or collision of feeling, all restraint, or suspicion, or gloom, or resentment; his great concern being to make every one at his ease and at home. He has his eyes on all his company; he is tender towards the bashful, gentle towards the distant, and merciful towards the absurd; he can recollect to whom he is speaking; he guards against unseasonable allusions, or topics which may irritate; he is seldom prominent in conversation, and never wearisome. He makes light of favours while he does them, and seems to be receiving when he is conferring. He never speaks of himself except when compelled, never defends himself by a mere retort; he has no ears for slander or gossip, is scrupulous in imputing motives to those who interfere with him, and interprets everything for the best. He is never mean or little in his disputes, never takes unfair advantage, never mistakes personalities or sharp saying for arguments, or insinuates evil which he dare not say out. From a long-sighted prudence, he observes the maxim of the ancient sage, that we should ever conduct ourselves towards our enemy as if he were one day to be our friend. He has too much good sense to be affronted at insults, he is too well employed to remember injuries, and too indolent to bear malice. He is patient, forbearing, and resigned, on philosophical principles; he submits to pain, because it is inevitable, to bereavement, because it is irreparable, and to death, because it is his destiny.'

Now it can be asked as to WHY SHOULD SONIA GANDHI BE AGAINST SUCH A GENTLEMAN 'MINORITY' PRESIDENT AND PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT? A legally irrefutable and politically unassailable answer can be given to this shameful and disgusting question in the following words of Dr Subramanian Swamy

'Patriotic Indians should thank the President of India for having the courage, by citing a legal hitch, to dissuade Sonia from staking her claim to form the government on 17 May this year. She therefore, despite all the contrived media hype, did not, and could not, become the Prime Minister of 1 billion plus people of India.

It can now be said that Bharat Mata has been saved from a monumental, devastating, and permanent injury to her national interest and to the patriotic psyche of Indians.

Therefore, it should be the resolve of every Indian to make any and every effort that can be made in a democracy, to ensure that Sonia is kept permanently out of reckoning for any public office. For those who instinctively understand that imperative, this note has been written to explain the factual basis for this rational determination, and suggest what patriotic Indians can do now to implement that democratic and patriotic resolution.

My opposition to Sonia Gandhi is not merely because she is Italian�born, although that by itself is a major issue. In other democratic countries, including in Italy, such an issue [of foreign-born aspiring to be head of government] would not even arise at all because the issue has already been settled by incorporating into law that a person cannot hold the highest public office unless he or she is native born.

In India there is no such law but the President, according my knowledge, has correctly acted on a proviso to Section 5 of the Indian Citizenship Act [1955] which requires the Union Home Ministry to lay down conditions to Indian citizenship acquired by foreigners by registration, condition based on the principle of reciprocity.

In Sonia Gandhi's case, such of those conditions that apply to Indians on becoming citizens of Italy, would apply to her.

The President reportedly had communicated to Sonia on the afternoon of 17 May, 2004, that if she insisted on being invited to form the government, he would want first to clarify, on a reference to the Supreme Court, whether in view of this proviso her appointment as PM could be successfully challenged in the court.

It is fair to assume that this report of the President's decision is correct, since the President had before him my petition dated 15 May, 2004 making just that point� that Sonia Gandhi's citizenship is conditional, and in particular she cannot be the PM legally.

The President had also given me an appointment at 12.45 pm on 17 May, 2004 to explain my submissions in person, which I did. I also told him that I would challenge such an unconstitutional appointment in the Supreme Court just as I had in 2001 when Jayalalitha was illegally sworn in as Chief Minister by the Tamilnadu Governor'

'I also cited to the President a 1962 Allahabad High Court case which held that this provision in the Citizenship Act was binding and lawful.

The nation by the stalling of Sonia becoming Prime Minister of India, has thus got an unexpected but temporary reprieve, a reprieve received not only because her citizenship of India by registration is not equal to one by birth even by Indian law, but a reprieve more because of the national security risk that was averted.

To comprehend that risk, we must however first understand who Sonia Gandhi really is and what kind of danger she, her family and her friends in Italy, hold for India's national security. Very little is known about the Mainos' murky past, and the little that we are told about Sonia are lies. In other words, Indians do not know who Sonia really is or what she represents.

Even for an Indian born citizen, we find it difficult to know a person's true background, but for a foreign-born it is extremely hard because of the remoteness of the place and the language barrier for most people, in this case�Italian.

This note is thus an aide d'memoir of certain verifiable facts that taken together constitute the danger that Sonia Gandhi represents for the nation. And that is the real Sonia and what she represents.'

Now to come to the family background of Pratibha Patil. There is an ongoing CBI investigation on a criminal case, a cognizable offence, of the murder of the husband of Rajni Patil who has accused Pratibha Patil's brother and also accused Pratibha Patil herself of shielding her brother. There is also another criminal case reported involving the default of a loan by a sugar factory reportedly owned by Pratibha Patil. Is it not morally incumbent on Pratibha Patil to voluntarily withdraw her candidature and inform those who have filed the nominations on her behalf today (23 June 2007)? Article 58 prescribes the Qualifications for election as President of India. The key clause is that the person should be qualified for election as a member of the House of the People. Pratibha Patil has to declare the assets owned by herself and by members of her family, a procedure required under law to be followed by her,, if she is to be eligible for contesting as a candidate for the House of the People.

A prominent anti-Hindu national daily of Chennai, dating its origin to the pre-Christian era, has suggested that our gentleman President and People's President Dr Abdul Kalam should have gracefully withdrawn from the current contest. The same daily has not given similar advice to Pratibha, despite recent disturbing disclosures by the mass media about her family background.

Perhaps Abraham Lincoln had politicians like Mrs Prathiba Patil of today in view when he wrote the following prophetic words to W H Herndon in 1861: �The struggle and scramble for office, for a way to live without work, will finally test the strength of our institutions�. Concealment, evasion, factious combinations, the surrender of all convictions to Sonia Gandhi, the de facto dictator of India today like Mussolini in Italy from 1922 to 1943, the systematic pursuit of expediency totally committed to shameless self-aggrandizement-these seem to be the over-riding credentials of Mrs Prathiba Patil. All these disgusting and disgraceful credentials have been sponsored by the Congress Party functioning as 'Servants of Sonia Society' (SOSS) today. The noble and sacred tradition of selfless public work in our national history initiated by Gopal Krishna Gokhale (1866-1915) in 1905 has been given a death blow forever by an Italian lady called Sonia Gandhi and her private inherited estate called the 'Servants of Sonia Society' (SOSS) by their putting up a totally unfit and unworthy candidate for the highest Office of the President of India

When Gopal Krishna Gokhale founded the Servants of India Society in Pune on 12 June, 1905, he pledged to carry out his national public service in a religious spirit and to promote, by all constitutional means, the national spirit of the India people. The founding of this brotherhood was the outcome of Gokhale's convictions that if the masses were to be liberated to function as active members of free India, they must have a band of selfless and intelligent workers who would dedicate their lives to the service of the nation. These workers must take the vow of renunciation, give up all ideas of selfishness, pride, fame and be one with their work and duty. The members of the Servants of India Society were trained to be nationalistic missionaries, and Gokhale inculcated in them virtues of fearlessness, truth, courage and firmness. Sonia Gandhi has proposed the name of Mrs. Prathiba Patil precisely for the reason that her proven public track record, both in the Congress Party and Government, has been totally devoid of these cardinal virtues.

Under the anti-national leadership of Sonia Gandhi, the Congress Party has become a party of men with such credential as can be appropriately described only in the following words of the poet of American Democracy Walt Whitman (1819-1892): �The members who composed it (any Democratic Party National Convention prior to the Civil War) were, seven-eighths of them, the meanest kind of bawling and blowing officeholders, office-seekers, pimps, malignant, conspirators, murderers, fancy-men, kept-editors, spaniels well-trained to carry and fetch, jobbers, infidels, disunionists, terrorists, slave catchers, pushers of slavery, spies, bribers, compromisers, lobbyers, sponges, expelled gamblers, Policy-backers, carriers of concealed weapons, deaf men, pimpled men, scarred inside with vile disease, gaudy outside with gold chains made from the people's money and harlots' money twisted together; crawling, serpentine men, the lousy combinings and born freedom-sellers of the earth�.

The above words of Walt Whitman are very relevant to the Indian situation created by the Congress Party and its partners in the UPA Alliance today. Mrs Prathiba Patil is supposed to be a champion of women's rights, women's emancipation and women's liberation. She is supposed to be an educationalist of world stature. She is supposed to be the founding architect of micro co-operative banking in the Vidharba region. A harbinger of rural socio economic development in Jalegaon and Amaravathi Districts of Maharashtra. Regarding her established, proven and splendid credentials as a public worker, I would like to present the following facts highlighted by Arun Shourie in his brilliant article entitled �Electing a President, rashtramaataa, Prathiba Patil, True Story (the financial frauds, the murder, the deliberate derailment of the investigation)

Arun Shourie introduces the pseudo- secularly Sonia sublime subject in a saffronized and communal manner as follows: 'A big step for women� This shows India has a lot of respect for women� My nomination will inspire other women and help their empowerment�' � that is how Pratibha Patil described her selection as the UPA candidate for being our President. Loyalists, of course, went one better. 'A firm believer in women's causes and a tireless champion of spreading education among girls� One who always stands for a better deal for women� active role in checking such evils as female foeticide and dowry...' 'Working women of Mumbai hail�' 'Yes, Ma'am Commander' � Armymen look forward to reporting to first woman Supreme Commander of Armed Forces�And all this within two days of her selection.

Her bio-data lists her 'special interests' as 'development of rural economy and welfare of women', and lists as evidence, 'Establishment of Pratibha Mahila Sahakari Bank at Jalgaon, Maharashtra� of Mahila Vikas Mahamandal�' It records her being Managing Trustee, Shram Sadhana Trust, as her being the 'Chief Promoter and Chairperson of Sugar Factory in Jalgaon District'. It records her having set up the Engineering College 'for the benefit of rural youth'�

Let me now present with bated breath the bare and lurid facts about Prathiba Patil's resplendent magnificence and luminosity.

A) THE PRATIBHA MAHILA SAHAKARI BANK-The Co-operative Bank set up by Mrs Prathiba Patil in her own name in 1973 (with herself as its first Chairperson) to help rural women below the poverty line. Many members of her own family were its founding directors. Mrs. Pratibha Patil herself became a director for several terms. As for members of her family, they inter-changed, among themselves, the chairs of the Board of Directors in one 'election' after another. But while others changed places, Pratibha Patil continued as Founder Chairperson right till the demise of the bank in 2003. All the main line English Print and TV Media today, with pseudo secular commitment, carefully avoid mentioning the brutal fact that this bank was liquidated under orders of the Reserve Bank of India in 2003 on the telling ground that its continuance would be prejudicial to the interests of depositors. But this shameful fact will in no way be prejudicial to the nomination of Mrs Pratibha Patil for the highest Office of President of India. To our great national misfortune and disgrace, if she happens to win the election, she will become the most classic instance of a successful President with shady credentials in our failed Banana State.

B) WHO GOT THE LOANS??

Like Sonia Gandhi helping Rahul Gandhi to get elected as a Member of Parliament from one of her Pocket-Boroughs in UP, Mrs. Pratibha Patil as Chairperson helped the following assetless members of her family, living below the poverty line, to obtain loans for the acquisition of small assets like Milch Cows, Bicycles, Auto-Rickshaws etc (!!!). These poor people never repaid the loans. Here are the details which tell the heart rending story about this helplessly poor people.

The man point to be noted from the above table is that millions of women in the region of operation of THE PRATIBHA MAHILA SAHAKARI BANK in Maharashtra were helped by Mrs Pratibha Patil through her family members listed above and all of whom required the help of Mrs. Pratibha Patil to lift themselves above the poverty line. Behind the pseudo-Secular female Pardha (veil!) of Mrs. Pratibha Patil, we can see the Dance of the Dervishes of the male members of her family!!. Such a great woman with a tremendous record of self -chosen poverty, simplicity and self-sacrifice has been collectively proposed by three other international giants like Sonia Gandhi, Karunanidhi and Mayavathi (with the same track record of service and self sacrifice like Mrs. Pratibha Patil) for the highest Office of the President of India.

C) AS A CHAMPION OF EMPLOYEES' UNIONS:

Perhaps Mrs Pratibha Patil is being solidly supported by CPI (M) and CPI only because she is a great Champion of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat as defined by Karl Marx and Lenin!! The Cooperative Bank Employees Union wrote one memorandum after another exposing how the Directors of the Pratibha Mahila Sahakari Bank were systematically bankrupting the bank. They demanded dismissal of the family-controlled board. They demanded a CBI inquiry against Pratibha Patil. Let us hear from her own employees on her motherly concern and compassion for Labour interests which has won the hearts of Prakash Karat, Seetharam Yechuri, Brinda Karat, Raja and other Lenins, Karl Marxs and Mao Tse Tungs of todays India. All of them are supporting the candidature of Mrs. Pratibha Patil for the Office of the President of India because with the above credentials she will give a beautiful and concrete shape to the attainable dreams of Karl Marx and Lenin about the �Withering Away of the State� and the advancement of the cause of the proletariat.

        The Presidential nominee
of a political imposter from Italy like Sonia Gandhi, I mean Smt Pratibha
Patil, seems to hail from a family with criminal antecedents. It has been
reported that Prof Rajani Patil, widow of the Congress leader in Jalagaon
(Maharashtra) who became a victim of political murder in September 2005,
came to Delhi and addressed the press on 22 June 2007. On the previous
day, she had submitted a detailed memorandum to President Dr A P J Abdul
Kalam, alleging that the conspirator behind her husband's murder was none
other than the brother of Smt Pratibha Patil, then Governor of Rajasthan
(and now UPA's candidate for the Presidential election). She also alleged
that Smt Pratibha Patil (who too hails from Jalagaon) has been misusing
her political influence to protect her brother. It is understood that she
took a big risk in coming to Delhi and presenting before the national media
the murky facts of this murder case. Never before in the history of mankind,
in any part of the world, a person with such shady, unscrupulous and murky
background as Smt.Pratibha Patil, was ever sponsored by a leading political
party for the highest office of the Head of the State, as is now happening
in our country. It is a disastrous symbol of the triumph of Italian mafia
(backed up by the EU and United States) to unsettle and destroy the Indian
State.

shocking revelations in the national capital, a lot of additional information,
pertaining to Smt Pratibha Patil and her family, has started coming out
in the media. Now the whole country knows that she is a champion of women's
rights only in the political sense in which Sonia Gandhi deems, declares,
dictates and delivers it. Smt Pratibha Patil is a shining symbol of Congress
brand of Super - Sonia democracy in which any exercise of freedom of speech
within the party will only result in the total loss of freedom after speech.
Natwar Singh found himself in such an unenviable predicament. Against this
background, more and more people are asking themselves the question: 'Does
Smt Pratibha Patil, a tainted person with such a criminal family background
deserve to become the President of India?'

        On 21 June, 2007, Prof Rajani
Patil gave a memorandum to the President of India in which she stated as
follows :

        ''Subject: A brokenhearted
widow's plea for justice in a case of politically motivated murder of my
husband, Shri V G Patil, President of the District Congress Committee of
Jalagaon (Maharashtra), followed by mysterious death of the murderer, and
protection to the conspirators by Smt Pratibha Patil, Governor of Rajasthan

        Most Respected Rashtrapatiji,

        I am an ordinary woman, a
widow whose husband was snatched away from me by a brutal political murder
which took place in Jalagaon exactly 21 months ago. I have come to you
in search of justice, which has eluded me so far even though I have moved
from pillar to post hoping, in vain, that those in power in Mumbai and
New Delhi would listen to the cry of a helpless woman and discharge their
lawful duty.

        My husband was murdered near
our house in Jalagaon on the morning of 21 September 2005. All the people
of Jalagaon district were outraged and immediately came to the conclusion
that this crime had been committed by the rivals of my husband within the
Congress party. The police soon arrested two assailants � Raju Mali and
Raju Sonawane � who were both supporters of Dr G N Patil, brother of Smt.
Pratibha Patil, in his bid to win the DCC Presidential election. In fact,
the initial confessions of these two persons before the police also confirmed
that they had acted at the behest of some powerful persons in the local
Congress party. The police even told the press that they had nabbed the
assassins and would 'soon catch the conspirators'.

        My pain is deeper because
both my family and the family of my late husband, Prof V G Patil, who was
president of the Jalagaon District Congress Committee at the time of his
murder, have had a long and dedicated association with the Congress party.
I am the proud daughter of a Freedom Fighter. I did not expect that the
voice of some unscrupulous, corrupt and criminal-minded people in the Congress
party in Jalagaon, who gave 'supari' for my husband's murder, would carry
greater weight in the corridors of power both in Mumbai and in New Delhi.
I have, therefore, come to you because you are the Custodian of the Constitution
and Protector of the Rule of Law.�

        So much for the decent and
cultured antecedents of the family of Sonia's nominee for the Office of
the President of India.

        In these columns yesterday,
I had written about the unscrupulous and callous manner in which Smt.Pratibha
Patil distributed loans like CASH DOLES to her brothers and close relations
(helpless people below the poverty line !) through Pratibha Mahila Sahakari
Bank in Jalegoan of which she was the Founder Chairman and continued in
that capacity till the bank was closed and liquidated on specific orders
of the Reserve Bank of India in 2003.

        According to Prakash Karat,
Seetaram Yechuri, Brinda Karat, Raja and other Communist stalwarts, Smt
Pratibha Patil is a crusader for labour rights. Let us hear what the Employees'
Union of that liquidated bank has to say on the Presidential nominee of
Sonia Gandhi who according to the Congress Party has beaten the unbeatable
record of Mahatma Gandhi in the realm of supreme self sacrifice for the
Indian nation in general and the poor people of India in particular.

        In a lengthy memorandum dated
3.12.2001, the Employees' Union complained, the 'Founder Chairperson Pratibha
Patil � during, before and after the period when she was formally on the
Board of Directors � has facilitated the loot of large sums of money in
the form of unlawful loans without surety extended to her own relatives
and to people close to her family.' This gave a special thrill and joy
to Sonia Gandhi and her henchmen in the Congress.

        The Union alleged that, even
though the bank was on the verge of bankruptcy, Pratibha Patil got huge
amounts of interest waived on the loans given to her close relatives. As
illustrations, they listed three such accounts:

        1) Anjali Dilipsingh Patil
(Pratibha Patil's niece), who got a WAIVER of Rs. 21.86 lakh;

        2) Kavita Aravind Patil (sister-in-law
of Pratibha Patil), who got a WAIVER of Rs. 8.59 lakh; and

        3) Rajkaur Dilipsingh Patil
(another sister-in-law of Pratibha Patil), who got a WAIVER of Rs. 2.47
lakh.

        After the waivers were given,
thanks to the influence of Smt.Pratibha Patil, the above accounts were
promptly closed!

        Thus, the Union concluded,
'there is a loot of Rs. 32.93 lakh'. The Union also stated �Pratibha Patil,
her elder brother Dilipsingh Patil and the Board of Directors have, through
different means, robbed nearly Rs. 2 crore� The bank is thus being bankrupted
through a collusive strategy.' 'What kind of morality is this?�.

        What appeared to be immoral
to the Employees' Union in Jalaegaon, becomes moral, elevating and ennobling
in the Dravidian political context in Tamilnadu. No wonder Karunanidhi
is organizing a big women's rally in support of such a great, exemplary
and unmatched woman as Smt. Pratibha Patil in Chennai to arouse the enthusiasm
of the Tamil people in popular support of the candidature of Smt. Pratibha
Patil for the Office of the President of India. While Bal Thakeray of Shiv
Sena is willing to support Smt Pratibha Patil on the ground that she hails
from Maharashtra, Karunanidhi and his party are too willing to dump a Peoples'
President and Gentleman's President like Dr Abdul Kalam whose mother tongue
is Tamil and who hails from a small village near Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu,
into the bay of Bengal. This despite the fact that Dr.Abdul Kalam can on
no account be dismissed as an impotent Hindu refugee! So much for Karunanidhi's
love for Tamil and Tamil people and more particularly for the minority
Muslim community in Tamilnadu.

        When the above legally irrefutable
facts are presented to the public, the disgraceful Congress Party comes
out with a cheap political comment � all this is the work of the disgruntled
BJP and its allies who are unable to field a candidate to match the intellectual,
ethical, moral and official global stature of Maha Mata Smt Pratibha Patil�.
The nation as a whole would like to give a rejoinder to Super Sonia and
her Private Limited Company called the Congress in the following unbeatable
words of Arun Shourie :

        �It so happens that all the
events, documents, proceedings in court, communications, etc., pertain
to the period before Pratibha Patil was plucked from nowhere to be the
Presidential candidate. And they are being recounted today PRECISELY BECAUSE
Pratibha Patil has been nominated to become the President of the country.
Till the other day, these were frauds of some district politicians. The
murder was of concern primarily to the Jalagaon people. PRECISELY BECAUSE
PRATIBHA PATIL IS LIKELY TO BECOME THE PRESIDENT, EACH FACET � THE FINANCIAL
FRAUDS, THE MURDER, THE DELIBERATE DERAILMENT OF THE INVESTIGATION � BECOMES
A MATTER OF URGENT NATIONAL CONCERN. IF THE FRAUDS AND MURDER ARE NOT EXHUMED
TODAY, WHY, THAT WOULD BE A REAL CONSPIRACY��

        To Sonia Gandhi tracing her
roots to Italy ( Mafia not excluded ! ), these facts / aspects are totally
irrelevant to the welfare of India and her helpless people.

        Perhaps V I Lenin (1870-1924)
had unscrupulous politicians like Sonia Gandhi, M Karunanidhi, Lalu Yadav,
Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat and Seetharam Yechuri in view when he said
in 1917: 'There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A
scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.' The great
politicians who have proposed and signed the nomination papers of Srimati
Pratibha Patil for the highest office of the President of India, are supporting
her only for the reasons clearly outlined by Lenin.

        In these columns I have already
described the glory and the grandeur of the SAGA of Self-less Service and
Self-Sacrifice of Pratibha Patil in the field of rural development, empowerment
of women, poverty alleviation, female education, social welfare, industrial
peace and labour welfare in her capacity as the Founder-Chairperson of
the Pratibha Mahila Sahkari Bank in Jalegaon in Maharashtra. In this context
I am presenting below some mean, sordid and biting facts about her husband
in the light of an article by Arun Shourie titled: 'And don't forget: there
is the husband too.' The trouble with women's empowerment is that, carried
away, people forget that there is the husband too! It is clear from this
article that the high ideals of Devisingh Shekhawat, the distinguished
husband of Pratibha Patil, have always marched along those of his wife,
in letter and spirit, in the field of education and social empowerment.
It is now publicly known that in one of the schools run by Devisingh Shekhawat,
a teacher called Kisan Dhage was driven to suicide by the cruel ways and
excesses of dictatorial management. He and his associates have blocked
the processes of equity and natural justice, apart from legal justice in
this case. Devisingh Shekhawat is the President of the society. He is also
the Accused No. 1 in the case that I am about to summarise. Here is the
painful sequence of facts and events:

        Kisan Dhage joined the school
run by the Shekhawats in 1977. He worked as an Assistant Teacher. After
prolonged privation and harassment, on 15 November 1998, he took his life
by swallowing poison.

        The police were called. As
they examined the body in the presence of witnesses, they discovered in
his pocket a suicide note that Dhage had written in his own hand. They
also found a stamp-paper - Dhage had written out on it also the painful
account of events that were leading him to take his own life.

        He set out how he had been
harassed and mentally tortured for long by Devisingh and his associates.
His salary was not paid. His pleas for credit from the credit society that
is run by the education society that runs the schools were turned down.
The forms to enable his son to take the examination for scholarship were
blocked. The family was driven to starvation.

        Eventually, they dubbed him
'surplus', and transferred him to a far-off school. It turned out that
there was no vacancy for a teacher's position in this school. Dhage was
shoved around and told to supervise the hostel, such as it was. In despair,
Dhage wrote to the Social Welfare Department in Amravati. On 27 January,
1998, the Social Welfare Officer at Amravati, wrote to the school management
saying that the transfer was illegal as there was no vacancy for the position
of a teacher in the school to which the hapless man had been driven. The
Officer, therefore, withheld sanction for the transfer.

        To beat him into submission,
Devisingh and associates completely stopped paying the salary of Dhage.
He received nothing from September 1997. Being a family of little means,
they were at their tether's end. Dhage appealed to the Nagpur Bench of
the Bombay High Court for relief - there is no vacancy for a teacher in
this school, they have sent me here, they have stopped paying any remuneration,
we are at the point of starvation - Such were his pathetic pleas.

        The application was filed
on 19 January, 1998. But the wheels of justice move at deliberate speed.
The order of the High Court did not come till 8 October 1998. By now a
year had passed since the family had received any pay at all.

        The High Court ordered Devisingh
and associates to take Dhage back as teacher and to pay his salary. It
also directed them to pay arrears since 25 August 1997.

        Dhage kept going to the management.
He waited upon these high and mightily-connected personages. His health
broke down. He applied for medical leave - he attached a medical certificate
with his application. His request even for medical leave was rejected peremptorily.

        Nothing moved them. In spite
of the High Court's direction, Devisingh and Co. refused to pay him anything.
Dhage's colleagues were aghast. But helpless. The family had to turn to
moneylenders. They had to sell the wife's few ornaments. But now there
was little left even to sell.

        Unable to secure food for
his wife and children, crushed by the insolence of these heartless people
belonging to Pratibha Patil's family, around 10 in the morning on 15 November,
1998, Dhage swallowed poison and killed himself.

        The police recorded the panchnama.
It took the suicide note, the stamp paper and all. The body was taken away.
The viscera were removed for examination.

        And then, full stop.

        Dhage's widow, Mangalbai,
filed a complaint. Police looked the other way. Mangalbai then approached
the Local Court. Eventually the Local Court ruled in favour of Mangalbai.
It set out the entire sequence: The harassment; the illegal transfer; the
stoppage of salary to beat the man into submission; the order of the High
Court that the salary as well as the arrears be paid - In spite of the
High Court order 'not even a single penny' has been paid, the Court noted.
Finally the Court declared that a prima facie case had indeed been made
out.'

        Thereafter the matter was
reported to the police by the complainant (Mangalbai Dhage). The Local
Court observed, 'however; under the political pressure (of Mrs. Pratibha
Patil and her family-italics within this bracket mine?!?) police did not
register offence against the accused� Complainant has proved her prima
facie case' - That was on 6 October, 2000 - by now three years had gone
since the poor man's salary had been stopped, two years since he had killed
himself.

        To quote the searing words
of Arun Shourie in this context:

        'A family as devoted to education,
and women's welfare, and rural development and everything good and gracious
as Pratibha Patil's bio-data makes her out to be, would have immediately
agreed to day-to-day hearings - to say nothing of not having such privation
befall a hapless teacher and his family in the first place. What did our
friend do? He filed an appeal against the order of the Court with the Additional
Sessions Judge.

        After a lapse of five years,
the Judicial Magistrate, A A Nandagaonkar, delivered the judgement. He
gave a resounding slap to Devisingh Shekhawat - the plea of Mangalbai Dhage,
the poor widow of late Kisan Dhage, was upheld in entirety by the Court
of Law. The Court stated 'The complainant, Mangalbai, has proved the prima
facie case against the accused - Devisingh Shekhawat and his associates.
Therefore, I am of the opinion that issuance of process against the accused
is necessary. Hence, as such enquiry made by me upon going through the
facts and circumstances of the matter and evidence adduced by the complainant
is sufficient enough to proceed against the accused for commission of offence
u/s 306 read with 34 of the IPC.' This judgment was delivered on 22 July
2005, seven years after Kisan Dhage decided to take his own life following
his failure to get speedy and even handed justice in our country.

        Even after that Court Judgment,
Devisingh Shekhawat did not allow justice to proceed. Even without the
help or approval of the Would-be First Woman of the Republic, he filed
an appeal in the High Court. On 26 December, 2005, the High Court passed
an order directing the local Court to examine the grounds that Devisingh
and associates had now given against the order and dispose of the revision
application within three months.

        In a final stinging slap,
the reviewing judge concluded in his order dated 7 February 2007 that Devisingh
and Co. had no ground for their appeal at all. He showed that the elaborate
judgements that Devisingh's lawyers had cited, that each and every one
of them in fact fortified what the original Court had done. The evidence
that had been adduced, the sequence of events that had been brought on
record, the Judge ruled, 'are sufficient enough to inspire (sic) that these
accused had abetted Mr. Kisan Dhage to commit suicide by creating unbearable
situation for his survival and also making him unable to maintain his family
members.' 'The series of facts alleged in the complaint also inspire (sic)
that all these accused are in collusion with each other and therefore as
far as the question of prima facie case is concerned, there are sufficient
grounds brought on record before the learned lower court'

        The wife of such a man, Srimati
Pratibha Patil has been proposed by Sonia Gandhi for the Office of the
President of India. Sonia Gandhi has been hailed as the Tallest Leader
in our deprived land by our disgustingly servile Prime Minister. In Indian
politics there is no honour. In Sonia Congress Politics nothing is contemptible.
In our shameful democracy politics consists wholly of the discovery, chase
and scortching of Bugaboos.

        'Indian politics have
changed of late,

       Which leaves me piqued and sad
:

        No longer can I separate

        The good lies from the
bad'.

        After Arun Shourie's brilliant
'expose' of the multifarious deeds and misdeeds of Smt.Pratibha Patil,
her husband and many members of her family bordering on corruption and
crime, the national and international public credentials of Smt Pratibha
Patil, Sonia Gandhi's glorious Presidential Candidate, have sunk to abysmal
depths of unprecedented disgrace in our recent political history. Since
her defence lawyers in the regular legal profession have not been able
to defend her and her other family members, Dr Manmohan Singh has stepped
into that gaping void by dismissing all the legal allegations made against
Smt Pratibha Patil and, her husband and which are under trial in several
Courts of Law in Maharashtra, in a cavalier manner as 'This is only mudslinging'.
Our ever collapsing and collapsible Prime Minister wants us to believe
that the Courts of Law which have admitted the petitions against Smt Pratibha
Patil's husband are only indulging in mudslinging. Arun Shourie is indulging
in mudslinging. Eminent journalists like Prof Madhav Das Nalapat, Sandya
Jain and many others who have argued against the candidature of Smt Pratibha
Patil are all guilty of mudslinging. The Director of CBI and his officers
who are conducting an enquiry are also guilty of mudslinging.

        The highest proof of virtue
is to possess boundless unlimited power without abusing it. According to
Dr Manmohan Singh, that proof lies in abusing it in an unabashed manner
for the survival of a few criminals in Indian politics at the highest level.
Till the candidature of Smt. Pratibha Patil was proposed by Sonia Gandhi,
the known political weakness in mind heart and spirit of Dr Manmohan Singh,
rather than his unknown political wickedness, was playing havoc with our
national public life. Till then, I was of the view that all the problems
of India today were being caused by the weakness of his goodness rather
than by the strength of his evil. Now the true political picture about
his personality and image has clearly emerged. After the formal announcements
of the Presidential nomination of Smt Pratibha Patil whose criminal antecedents
and that of the close members of her family have become nationally and
internationally known, Dr Manmohan Singh for the first time has shown his
true colours in the realm of political expediency if not wickedness, by
declaring that all the allegations made by many responsible citizens of
India against the candidature of Smt.Pratibha Patil are baseless and unfounded.

        Bernard Shaw said that political
virtue consists not only in avoiding crime but also in not desiring it.
By dismissing all the legally legitimate allegations made against Smt Pratibha
Patil and her close family members as �Mudslinging� efforts, Dr Manmohan
Singh has made it clear that for him political virtue consists not only
in not avoiding crime but also in passionately desiring it with all his
mind heart and soul in order to please that person to whom he owes his
'High Office' and political existence.

        I fully endorse the brilliant
and incisive analysis of Dr Madhav Das Nalapat in his essay The Big Story
� Why is Sonia against Kalam? To quote him : �SONIA Gandhi's visceral opposition
to the re-nomination of the current incumbent of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr
A P J Abdul Kalam is inexplicable. Why is Sonia so negative about Abdul
Kalam? Is it because he supports Indian interests? Knowing the mind of
Sonia Gandhi, on whom he depends for his job, Manmohan Singh has reportedly
agreed to the US demand that India cap the Agni-III programme to a 5000-kilometre
range. This would mean the end of this country's hopes of becoming a competitor
to Europe in the satellite launch market. Given Sonia's preferences, such
an outcome may not be at all unpalatable to her, for anytime she has the
luxury of getting back her EU passport, the way Alberto Fujumori switched
from Peruvian to Japanese in a flash. Should she do so, the fact that she
was responsible for the emasculation of India would go very much in her
favour. Whether it is the clandestine sale of thorium under the guise of
'exports of sand' or the efforts at signing the nuclear deal, or the retreat
from Siachen and Sir Creek, this UPA government has reduced India to the
stature of a diplomatic dwarf, in the process magnifying the role of Europe
in South Asia. Even though he has almost never openly spoken his mind on
such matters, it is known that President Kalam is deeply concerned about
the direction of Indian policy, and the long-term impact of the Maino Doctrine
(India as Dwarf) on the country's security. He would be troubled by the
attempted destruction of the rocket and space programme under the cover
of capping the range of the country's missiles to a level that would render
the billion-plus people of the land defenseless in the event of a first
strike by a nuclear power other than Pakistan. Is this defence of Indian
interests the reason why the UPA has been prevented from backing a second
term in office for President Kalam?.... The President is therefore an unpleasant
example to the UPA, which revels in a five-star lifestyle while talking
about the aam aadmi. Is the fact that he is honest the reason why the UPA
has decided to dump Abdul Kalam?�

        According to Sandya Jain,
Smt Pratibha Patil has no nationalist credentials and no empathy for India's
foundational ethos and national culture. Her sensitivities extend only
to the faith of her Roman Catholic leader, to please whom Smt Pratibha
Patil denied assent to the anti-conversion Bill in Rajasthan, despite strong
provocation by the Immanuel Mission in Kota and evangelists in Dangs. Ms
Patil was aware that similar laws have been passed by Congress regimes,
the latest being Himachal Pradesh where conversion sprees and drug-laced
moonlight parties by Western tourists are polluting the environment. Her
anti-Hindu act elevated her status with the Vatican and New Delhi.

        Is it not a grim national
tragedy that there are people with criminal records in the central ministry,
parliament, legislatures and state governments. In a criminalised polity,
who is likely to be elected as Rashtramaataa? Then, a brother, now a husband.
The veil is a cover. Dr.Kalyanaraman writes poignantly as follows : �The
prima donna (PD) should bear full responsibility for desecrating every
constitutional office, starting with the set up of a substitute PM who
calls this mudslinging. Kamaraj used to say: ore kutteyile oorina mattai,
palm swathe soaked in the same mud bath. Is there anything to choose, PM?
Why is the Hon'ble PM talking on behalf of the candidate? Doesn't she have
a voice of her own? Electing a family with tainted records will put the
coping stone on the criminalised polity orchestrated by a PD and jaalra-s
(side orchestra of cymbals). There are some who hear conscience voices,
there are others who seem to be conscience-keepers. Shame on the state
of adharma running riot in India that is not Bharat�.

        The post of 'President' signifies
the 'Sovereignty & Integrity' in the democratic set-up of our Great
Nation. Apart from being the 'Supreme Commander' of our mighty Armed forces,
the President must ensure the sanctity of our Constitution. The decisions
made by the President are 'vital' at times like reconsideration of a 'bill'
passed by Parliament, dismissal of a State Government, dissolution of Parliament
and passing of Constitutional amendments brought in by the parliament.
So, the Presidential nominee must have the relevant knowledge, exposure
& experience apart from having a clean public image with clear antecedents.
Hence, the highest constitutional authority namely the 'President' must
be elected on a consensus in a healthy democracy.

        B R Haran, another 'mudslinger'
according to our surrogate Prime Minister, has rightly concluded : �What
is happening now in the case of Prathiba Patil is that, she has been chosen
for the post of highest constitutional authority by an 'extra constitutional
authority' (read Sonia), which doesn't have any responsibility or accountability
towards the people of this country, with a sole aim of serving her self
interests. While the congressmen are known for their sycophancy & spinelessness,
the other allies have fallen in line in order to achieve their own self-interests,
as they are also known for their lack of interests on matters of national
interests�.

        While a small responsible
section of the media reported the dubious antecedents of Smt Pratibha Patil
, a large irresponsible and pseudo-secular media including the 24X7 English
Channels followed obediently the footsteps of Congress President and reported
that none of the accusations pointed finger on Prathiba Patil and that
she is not directly involved in those issues.

        What is most condemnable
is the attitude of the congress President. She has proposed the name of
Prathiba Patil and announced her candidature, terming it as 'historic',
knowing fully well the dubious antecedents of her presidential nominee.
Talking of historicity, the election of Prathiba Patil as the President
would be certainly a 'blot' in the history of I independent India, worse
than the 'Emergency'. The entire episode has exposed the irresponsibility,
arrogance and the scant regards which the UPA Government under the stranglehold
of Sonia Gandhi has for Constitutional propriety and the Law of the Land.
Alas! The election of 'President' has been made in to a mockery by the
Sonia led UPA and the people of this country are simply watching the ugly
scenes without even realizing the forthcoming 'danger' that lies ahead
for the 'Constitution' of India which is going to be subjected to all sorts
of unholy and unethical changes by a plethora of amendments, soon after
Prathiba Patil takes over the mantle of Presidentship. May God save our
great Nation, out collapsing Constitution, and our shattered people.
